Selecting
your brush

You
can select whichever brush you like. Try several of
them and see which one you would like to use to create
your pattern.
Make
sure that your foreground color is a different color
than your background color so you can see the brush.
Creating
your pattern

Once
you have selected your brush, start scattering brush
strokes across your canvas. You can do this as randomly
as you would like. For this example we have used spatter
28 pixels brush.
You can use multiple colors by changing the foreground
color. Or you can create different textures by using
more than one brush for your pattern.
For
this example we have used two colors with one brush.
Defining
your pattern

Once
you are satisfied with the pattern you have created,
you will need to define your pattern.
To define your pattern. Click on the Edit menu. Then
click on Define Pattern.
If
you have a graphic or image saved on your computer
already, you can define it as a pattern the same way
as you have done in this example. Simply open the
file, make sure it is saved as whatever size you would
like the pattern to be, and then click on define pattern.
You can play around with creating patterns until you
come up with something you like.
Name
your pattern

After
you click on define pattern, Photoshop will call for
you to give your pattern a name. You can leave the
name as undefined if you want or type in a name for
your pattern.
Now
you know how to design and save a simple pattern.
