a 8 and 1/2 by 11 page, you will want to make your

smaller you can trim off any excess paper on the
edges of your scrapbook page.
- Set
the resolution of your file to 200 or better.
(The higher the resolution, the higher the quality
of the image)

Using
the Marquee Tool

Using
the Marquee tool draw a square in the center of your
page. Leave about an inch to an inch and a half of
space from the outside of the page. This does not
need to be precise.
This
can be done as a
separate layer if
you would like your file saved in layers. If you are
a beginner, this is not necessary but makes it easier
for editing.
Using
the Feather Tool

Under
the Select menu, you will find the feather tool. Use
this tool to create a feathered fill around your square.
Inverse
the feathering of your marquee

Use
the select menu and click on Inverse. This will inverse
the feathering on your marquee.
