Getting
started
We
started out the room by knocking out part of the old
bookshelves to make room for the new loft and bottom
bed. This actually went smoothly with no obstacles.
Then we had to remove all the old wallpaper border from
the wall. This did not come off nearly as easily as
we thought it would. We used DIF brand wallpaper stripper
and a scraper. It took a little work, but it all came
off.
Painting
the room
The
walls were painted purple with white trim. We saved
one wall to paint a patchwork quilt pattern to match
the comforters that we purchased for the room. This
was tedious, but well worth it. First, we painted the
wall white so that the squares would have a nice, clean,
white border. Then we taped the squares. We measured
out 1foot by 1 foot squares and taped accordingly. The
time consuming part was actually painting the squares.
We painted in a pink, yellow, blue, purple pattern.
It took two coats, but the end results we were very
pleased with. Once dry all we had to do was lift the
tape and we had our patchwork quilt wall.
