Okay the spectacular is as in “Spectacular Spiderman.” I am not sure the cake qualifies as spectacular but the kids and I had a lot of fun making it. Yes, I let my kids help make their birthday cakes. My parents always let us make our own birthday cakes. I remember always having fun with that so I am passing along the tradition.
This cake actually took me almost two days to make believe it or not. There are several layers of cake here so I made all the cakes the night before and then set out to decorate it the next day. I can’t say it is perfect but I was pretty happy with it just the same. I made everything red, white, and blue since Brandon’s birthday is on 4th of July. He was supposed to have matching spider-web cupcakes to go with it but that didn’t happen. By the time I got done with the cake, frosted all the cupcakes and started to mess with decorating them, I was tired. So, I just decided the heck with it the cake was good enough.
Here is his Spiderman cake and I also made him a Spectacular Spiderman scrapbook page to go with!

It is so funny because Lyndsey was not happy. She kept insisting that it was her birthday too. I couldn’t get the message through to her. Brandon finally tells her it is my birthday cake. Brats don’t have birthday cakes. I admit it made me chuckle.
Happy sixth birthday baby!
