Today was especially awesome because at school we had a HALF DAY. That means that I spent most of the morning with my Hispanic students working on a variety of Irish-themed worksheets until the sweet sound of the noon dismissal bell.
The half day was made even better by the fact that it was unseasonably warm and sunny in Illinois today. A half day off of school that is warm and sunny is just about as good as it gets.
Until I had lunch with a good friend and we shared multiple cups of coffee and a few laughs.
And then the day got even better.
I came home to the smell of corned beef and cabbage (courtesy of my husband who has become quite the little chef during his domestic stint).
And the day got even better.
At home I jumped on the trampoline with the kids and successfully performed a mid-air jump split without pulling my groin, thereby impressing said children AND husband. And the day got even better.
I threw the football around with my 11 year old son who was impressed by my spirals. “If girls could play football,” he said, “you could be a quarterback.” Yes, they are THAT good.
And the day got even better.
After dinner I went for a 2 mile run — my first exercise in far too many weeks — pushing two kids in the jogging stroller — I survived without passing out (or pulling a groin).
And the day got even better.
I am now in my pajamas, a box of Thin Mints in hand

It’s been a very good day.
