Ava spent the weekend in-patient again. We spent some time with Endocrinology and Genetics. Genetics actually spent anout 90 minutes talking with me today. Hypoglycemia and blood glucose checks every 2 hrs left her miserable.

They are now worried that Ava has a Mitochondria disorder due to so many different health problems. It was explained to me that Mito is more widespread than a metabolic disease, which fits Ava. They took blood and sent it to the Mayo clinic for some initial testing. She will also get a muscle biopsy. They said it’s a large, invasive biopsy that will require surgery and another hospital stay. A sedated Echo is in the near future, sleep study, as well as meeting the folks in the Neuromuscular clinic. Just what we needed is more doctors, right? They are the doctors that will order her muscle biopsy.
I’m done with the negative update.
Guess what you get when a 2 year old has 2 bags of dextrose bolused in a short time? Give up? A hyper toddler that feels much better. :) Here’s proof!
