My husband and I have many products that need to be charged. Cell phones, iPods, some of the games the girls play. After a while, it got so hard to keep up with all the cords for charging and which cord went to which product. We were contacted by Powermat to review their products and we were just ecstatic.
We received a Powermat Home and Office Mat and Powermat Portable Mat and I can’t tell you how excited the husband was to open this.
FIRST LOOKS: I will tell you when you first look at it, you would just think that you put your phone on the mat and it will just start to charge…Right? Well, that is not the case.
READING THE DIRECTIONS: HAHA! So, yes you need to read the instructions and go through the information to understand you don’t just plug the product in and place your phone on the mat, because it will not charge start charging. LOL.
Let me tell you about the Powermat and how it works. The Powermat is like it says, wireless charging…“The Powermat Wireless Charging System provides a simple, fast and efficient way to keep all of your favorite personal electronic devices charged. Enabling your devices with Powermat Receivers allows you to Drop and Charge them on any Powermat Mat to experience wireless charging.” What you will need is a Universal Powercube Receiver with the Powercube tips (they have several different ones, Apple Tip, LG Tip, Micro-USB Tip, Nintendo DSi Lite Tip, Nintendo DSi Tip and many others.)
The mat does comes fully equipped with all the information that above, so the Powercube Universal Receiver with the tips that you will need for whatever the devise is that you need to charge. The Powercube will replaces all of those individual power cords that you have and allows you to charge them all with a single solution and all in one place. The Powermat does include 8 different tips (that we talked about above) that can charge the many different devices you may have or may get at a later time. All you need to do is change the tips with the Powercube and you have a charger without having to look all over the house for the cord that you have no idea where you last used it at, (LOL this is how it is around our house). The ease of using this, is very easy. What is neat about this is the Magnetic alignment…. “A magnetic attraction between every Receiver and each access point on every Mat assures that alignment is precise and the most efficient charging will occur. This is one of the keys to the Powermat system’s ability to charge your devices as fast or faster than the original power adaptor.” Once you plug your phone into the cube and tip and align it on the mat, there is an audio confirmation… “A unique sound tells you that a solid connection has been made and your device is charging. A second, similar sound is heard when the device is removed. The level of these sounds can be changed or they can be turned off.” I really like this because I know many times when I would plug a power cord into my phone or other device I would check it a couple of times to make sure it was connected, don’t you? So, not only do you get the sound, but you get a Charging light indication.
The Powermat Portable Mat is really nice to have for on the go, camping (which we took with us camping), for me to use at work or just whereever. It folds up like the above and opens like a Home & Office Powermat.
I have really put my powermat portable to use at work. A lot of times at night time when I get home, I forget to charge my devices because I get into the nightly ruitine with the girls, playtime, dinner, baths, bedtime. So,when I get to work, I have several different devices that could need charging:
* my work cell phone, Motorola * my personal cell phone, LG Envy * my iPod (too bad its not an iPad)
Now let me tell you something that was pretty cool, I had an IT person come to my desk because I was having laptop problems at work, she was using her blackberry and it started to die, I just gave her the tip she needed and she could charge her phone. Serioulsy, how cool is that and that was not ever something I could do before.
