Just because you’re going to be a mom, that doesn’t mean you’re not a woman anymore. At least that is the mantra I have to keep telling myself when I’m sitting here looking at my ever-expanding physique, convinced that I’m nothing more than an incubator with milk dispensers.
As if the growing belly wasn’t enough to make a pregnant woman feel unattractive, you can’t forget the swollen fingers/toes/ankles/everything, the clumsiness, the loss of brain power, the odd skin coloration, and the body hair - and who could forget the belly button that looks like the “done-right” indicator on a butterball turkey?
Despite all of this, many men still swear that pregnant women are sexy (my husband included). The challenge is, how do you convince yourself that you’re one of these sexy pregnant women when you can’t even see your feet to put on those killer boots?
I may have found my answer today!
First of all, I know what hubbster likes…and it isn’t usually lingerie, actually. He likes it when women dress up in button down blouses and slacks, pull their hair back, and look all business-like and authoritative. He thinks its hot.
Neat thing I found out today: maternity slacks look fantastic with a button down blouse. Especially if you only do up one button (over the girls) and expose your belly! It actually made me feel sexy, hubby will like it, and gee-whiz, I was even able to use items from my non-pregnant wardrobe! (You should try it, it really does look hot and will make you feel like a smokin’ momma!)
Me on the other hand, I like lingerie. I don’t care if he’s not all that interested, lingerie makes ME feel sexy. Lookie what I found… Jola Babydoll (S, Black)
Now, I’d kill to look like her IN it – but I think regardless, any momma-to-be would look smokin’ in that, and it is MEANT for maternity!! Yes, real maternity lingerie!!
Or this one here, with the exposed belly, which is a really hot look, I like it. Not in public, but for my hubby (who loves my belly) – I like showing it off! – Milea Maternity Lingerie Set (Small/Medium)
*sigh* So cute! I’m thinking of picking these up now, even with only about 8 weeks left – I can probably fit them again for baby #2!
The thing to remember about feeling sexy when you’re pregnant is that it does take a bit of work. You can’t lie there on the couch like a slob, eating ice cream cake in your yoga pants and hubby’s baggy t-shirt, and honestly think of yourself as anything that closely resembles “sexy.” Trust me, I speak from experience on that one.
Replace the ice cream cake with a cool glass of water, the baggy t-shirt with a cute little maternity top or slinky lace number that shows off the belly, and the yoga pants with something equally sexy to go with the top – and all of a sudden, you’re glowing. Radiant. HOT. And you actually feel like it!
Who knows, dressing up like that might help when you get closer to your due date, and you want hubby to give you a little “help” into labor!
