For the longest time I have been thinking about getting a smartphone. I have gone to the store before and looked at them, but then my hubby talked me out of getting one. I kind of put the thought of getting one on the backburner, but it is something I have wanted and thought about for a while.
Last year I went to a blogger day that was put together by Pampers. I had a really good time and met a lot of bloggers. I felt a little jealous while I was there because all of the other bloggers had a smartphone. As much as I am online you would think that I would have one too. Everyone I know just about has one or if they don’t their phone is still better than what I have. Shoot, I think I was one of the last people on the planet to get a cell phone. My sister has a really cool android phone. All the other JM admins have a smartphone. I feel like the only person that doesn’t have one.
Well now I have the opportunity to try one and I couldn’t be more excited! A couple other JustMommies bloggers and I are going to be receiving a new upgraded phone, courtesy of Best Buy as part of a JustMommies sponsorship. We will be telling you all about our new phones so please be sure to follow our posts. Astrid and HeatherW will also be blogging with me. We will each be receiving a different phone so if you are thinking about getting a new phone you can follow each of our blogs and see which one sounds like the one for you. I will be receiving an Android phone. I wanted this one because it is the one my sister has and this way I can bug her to show me how to use it.
I have to say that ever since I have heard about this opportunity it is all I can think about. My kids ask me every day when I am going to be getting the new phone. After calling up my phone carrier and asking some questions I keep wondering why I didn’t just do this sooner. It really doesn’t cost that much more for the data plan for a smartphone and I think it will be so worth it.
The biggest reason I am excited about having this phone is so that I can get a life. As an admin for JM I try to be reachable at all times. If I need to leave the house I never leave for very long because I get antsy if I am away from the computer too long. Now I am going to be able to go to our homeschool group meeting every week without stressing. I have a lap top that I bring with me if I am going to be gone for long periods but it does not have a broadband connection so in order to use it I have to be near a wireless hotspot and usually I am not so it is pretty much useless. Not only that but who wants to drag a lap top everywhere?
There are also some other reasons why I am looking forward to having this phone. From what I understand these smartphones have some pretty cool apps and features. When I talked to the rep from my cell phone carrier he told me that there was an app that lets you use your phone as a level, like for construction work. Not that I would ever do construction work but how cool is that? I can only imagine what other kinds of apps are out there that I just don’t know about. I don’t even know what I am missing because I have never used one of these phones. I am a little slow when it comes to technology so I hope that I can figure out how to use this phone pretty easily. I will let you know what I think once I receive the phone.
