Welcome to Hot Topic # 4. Gonna make this one a quicky…. gotta get back to doing laundry, lol. Eli has a bacterial infection and is super clingy. She’s taking a nap, so I thought I’d type this out real quick before she wakes up…..
I wanted to talk about something I have been thinking about since having another baby (she’s going on 10 weeks now!). It’s not really a “hot topic” just a “What do you think” type blog today. It’s something we all do and I think we should enjoy it…
Bath time to me is a chore and I feel like a bad mother if I don’t bathe my girls everyday. But I don’t! My oldest daughter, who’s now 8, use to love to take a bath. When she was a baby I would bathe her atleast 4-5 times a day. And then I stopped taking her a bath when she started school at around 5. I gave her the excuse that she’s a big girl and if she wants to be stinky then she didn’t have to take a bath. And now she also sees bath as a chore and usually whines when I tell her it’s time to take a bath. With her, I know that she now does have to take a bath daily because she sweats and is starting to stink, especially her feat, lol.
Then when we had baby number two Read the rest of this entry »

Even thought my Eli is not really a toddler anymore I thought I wouldbring ya’ll a new weekly series…. TODDLER TROUBLE! I’ll probably change the name but it seems to fit what she’s going through at the moment. So Toddler Trouble will be a blog post all about what’s going on in my 3 year olds life; blog posts from her perspective, my thoughts, stories she tells and just life with a toddler… sounds fun, hu?!

Yes, it’s hard to admit but my daughter is already 42 months (3 1/2) and still isn’t officially “talking.” The only people that can understand her are me and her big sister. We asked our doctor about it before she turned three and has been going to speech therapy twice a week for an hour and even though I know she has made tremendous progress, she is still about 9 months behind. She is starting to say 5 word sentences, but again, no one can understand what she’s saying. I must admit that I do not read to her everyday, but I talk to her like I do any other person. I don’t talk to her like a baby. I also have been trying to not to ask her yes/no questions to see if I can get more practice for her. Don’t get me wrong, she does talk A LOT! She just doesn’t say her consonants.
Another thing is about her therapy… they do not allow us in the room with her?! I thought that was very odd. I would think that it would benefit us because we can see what they are working on with her so that we can reinforce it or reward her when she “practices” at home. But we don’t and they really don’t tell us much, just that she did good or she participated that day. When she first started going she liked it and then she would cry when we told her it was time to go and she would throw a fit. Obviously I didn’t want her to go anymore, but now she really likes it and doing great. What are your thoughts on that?
Question: Can anyone relate?

So today is Day 1! And I already know what I’m going to talk about….
For the past few weeks, maybe even more, Eli seems to have regressed into a teething baby! She is always putting her fingers in her mouth and eating them! I would kinda get it if she had food on them, but she doesn’t. She just licks, sucks and bites her finger. I tried getting a photo of her doing it, but I think she’s not very proud of her new habit and she knows that Mami & Daddy don’t like it when she does it. lol
When she does do it we do tell her that her fingers don’t go in her mouth Read the rest of this entry »

Do you use cloth diapers? Have you ever used cloth diapers? Diaper Shops (Kelly’s Closet) wants to hear from you. Their 2012 Cloth Diaper Pulse Survey is collecting responses from 3,000 participants (moms, dads, caregivers, etc) about their cloth diaper habits.
The survey will take about 10-15 minutes to complete and will
ask you all sorts of questions about your family and your cloth diaper
What will the do with the results? You can review the results of the 2011 Cloth Diaper Pulse Survey to see what they found out last year. They will be publishing the official report and white paper in early August to let companies, manufacturers, media sources, and customers know what the current trendsare in the cloth diaper industry (according to your results).
Once 3,000 unique individuals have completed the survey the survey will officially close so that they can calculate the results. Don’t forget to share the survey link with other families who have used cloth diapers.

Real Simple Real Diapers for Babies – Health benefits, cloth diapers in hospitals, or cloth diapers in day cares.
For Cloth Diapers in Day Cares… We have not tried, but last week I send emails and left messages with a few in my area and haven’t received any response from any of them. I take that as them saying, “Don’t call back the crazy lady!” hahaha. That also goes for using cloth in hospitals. I reached out to them last week, and again today via Facebook and Twitter, and no response back from them as well. I will ask my OB/GYN when I have my next appointment and see if he knows anything or who I can contact about that.
Then we move on to the Health Benefits of using Cloth Diapers! There are so many health benefits to using cloth diapers! Read the rest of this entry »
Today is all about how your baby can be stylish, eco-friendly, and dry without breaking the bank. Whether you choose to use disposables or cloth (we do buy disposables for night time), it’s always a goal to save some money while doing it. I live in a very low income area, and when I go grocery shopping, I see a lot of families buying generic. While that might be cheaper, if they just did a bit of price comparison and clipped a few coupons, they could get the brands they love at the same or cheaper price. (I love saving!) Same thing with cloth diapers.
Also, think about Cloth Diapers as an investment. We have been using cloth for almost three years, and all but maybe one are practically like new! The new baby will be using the same diapers! So, if you know babies are still in your family’s future, they will be able to use them as well. I wouldn’t sell/trade until you are done in the baby making department. Imagine the savings with new additions! You can splurge on a few, but you won’t have to buy a whole new stash of diapers like you have to with disposables! Here are a few tips on how you can get an awesome cloth diaper stash and save money. Read the rest of this entry »
