About our blogger: Shannon

I am full time working mommy for a corporate America company and have three girls and one step daughter. My girls are 8 with my stepdaughter 8 as well, 2.5 and 16 weeks. I am pretty busy, but I am loving life as a mommy. I wish I could stay at home, but maybe one day that will come, but for now I am happy with what I have. I have been blogging over a year now. I love it it is such a great way to release sometimes. With my 16 week old, I have just had to learn within the last 7 weeks or less on how to cloth diaper. We are still learning and trying to know more about it. But it is fun and my new addiction besides bloggin.

Need Some Help with Organic Recipes

As many of you know if you are following my daughter’s story, we have gone to all organic.  I have been doing a lot of research and looking for lots of recipes.  I have been successful to find quite a few and then finding others where I have just used the same products that you would non organic, but most of the recipes I located were through Whole Foods, but I would still love to have more..  While home, its actually been fun to make food from scratch, because it is so good.

Can anyone help?  While here in the hospital it is great to have something that I can compile and then make recipes when we are home.  I think I am going to have to start a recipe book, I’ve never had one before, but I think I will with this to make it so much easier for us.  I’m eager to have other wonderful organic recipes in our menu.

Thanks for your help!

LOTS OF LOVE AND THANKS TO ALL OF YOU

I really just want to send out lots of love and thanks to all of you!

I can’t tell you all how amazed our whole family is and how wonderful you all have been when it comes to the situation that we are dealing with.  Many of you (well, let me say most of you) I have never met before, and you all have come together to do something so amazing and wonderful for us that I can’t even begin to tell you how much we appreciate it.

Our main focus here is to get rid of the cancer, keep Emily happy and as healthy as we can keep her.  And you all are helping in everyway that you know possible and I have to tell you that it really means a lot to our family that you all are doing this for us.

We have totally had to change our lives around and of course we are happy to do that to do what we have to do to get her better.  We have changed our eating habits and we are now eating all Organic foods.  While it is very expensive, we know it better not only for her, but for all of us after all the reading we have done about it.  I now make and prepare meals to take to the hospital for Breastfast, Lunch and Dinner, so my days at home as they always were busy, are even more busier.   I have even changed the way I cook, because I now cook homemade, because it is much better for us then using prepared organic goods.  (I made a roasted chicken with herbs last night…to cut up for other meals, and it was awesome!!)  I don’t buy things in a tin, a can, a box, or any of that, all of it is organic and I prepare it all. We have changed the way we make sure things are sanitized.  We have always made sure to sanitize, but in terms we have never been so anal. Seriously, we have had to change that and wash our hands as often as possible and even when I’m at work, it has become a habit. We have changed how we think about things and how we react to things!  So, life as we once knew it, is now something that is totally different and we are ok with that.  Anything to keep our daughter healthy and the rest of us too!  So, the Coupon Mommy of 3, has to find new ways to save money and has already started looking into organic deals and how I can save money there!

My post is here because I want to say thank you!  Thank you all so much for the amazing work that you all have done, are doing and continue to do for us.  Your love, your comments, your support, your prayers all mean everything to us.  We do read every comment on Facebook, Caring Bridge, the blog and they partake in our life, I am sorry that I am not able to respond to them, but we do read them.

THANK YOU AGAIN!

Update and THANK YOU!

Hello fans and followers.  Its very early, because I am heading back to work today! Sorry, I’m a little behind on updating the Caring Bridge Site, but things have just been really busy! Actually very busy! But, I plan to update more tonight when I have sometime to do so, I hope, after the kids are down for the night!

Before anything, I want to say….THANK YOU!  And 50 times that and more.  The heart felt love, prayers, support and all that has been surrounding us during this journey that started only about a month ago has been absolutely amazing.  I am just overly amazed how people are just so AWESOME, that is the best way to subscribe it, because you all have been so amazing with all the support and love and donations.  I have to tell you all it is just amazing.  So many packages have been received for Emily and it was awesome while we were in the hospital for my husband to pick them up at the house and bring them, because they brought huge smiles to her face.  Things I never really thought about but the times that we are home, in between, there is just so much going on, the dinners that have been provided to us from friends, family and even Richmond Mommies mom’s have been awesome and seriously has made life so much easier.  I can’t begin to thank you guys enough for all the love and support you have given us and continue to do.

THANK  YOU

This will be a very long road for us and I know that, and all that you all do and especially yours prayers, support and love mean so much to us.  That is really all I could ask for because this journey is by far one of the hardest things as a mother, or just as an invidivdual had to go through.  Its hard and honestly, in laymen terms, its sucks and in kid’s terms, “It’s not Fair!” and it’s not.  But we are praying and thinking positive. Continued Prayers and Support

First and foremost, I want to thank each and every one of you who have prayed for us and thought about us and even left us messages.  I want to say to have never been able to meet any of you and to have your support really means a lot. Support really helps when you are going through things that you can’t simply understand. Our life has changed and will continue to change, so the thank yous, the thoughts and prayers are very much heart felt and thanked. I can’t say thank you enough.   It also really means a lot when you have a community of people whom you have never met that would do anything for you and I honestly am just amazed by this and it really means us a lot to me and my family!

Secondly, my daughter came home from the hospital late last Wednesday.  We still are waiting.

If you are intersted, we are telling my daughter’s story on Caring Bridge.  I have not finished updating the information because it is taking some time to do so, but I am working on it and once we get more answers, it will be updated more frequently with our process.

My 3 year old needs your prayers, my other girls do to and so do my husband and I as we continue this journey.  We appreciate your support and thoughtfulness.

Again please understand right now I am breaking from the blogging world, just giving an update because I have received so many emails some from sponsors wondering why I haven’t done reviews and/or giveaways or posted their button.  Please understand,  I am coming back, I just don’t know when at this point and everything is saved so that when I do come back all of that information will come back and be placed on the blog.  The other emails I have received  have been from some really sweet bloggers and even just followers checking in on us and I felt I owed all of you at least something that is going on!    I don’t want to lose any of you, so I really wanted to let you know “THANK YOU, thank you for understanding the time away!”   My family needs my 24/7 attention and that is what I am doing!
Lastly, many of you are asking if there is anything you can do….THANK YOU!….I wish I could just say, here is what I need, but I am not there yet.  So, I do appreciate it.  Its wonderful knowing you all care so much!

Thanks again for your support!

Family Medical Emergency

I’m not sure who all follows my facebook and who follows here, I wanted to give you all an update on my my absense and this will be short but sweet.  If you are my fan on facebook and read my status update, you all will notice an absense, because we are currently dealing with a Family Medical Emergency.  I’m updating my blog, because I want to reach out to all of my followers, my fans and even my sponsors who are waiting for reviews and/or giveaways from me.

I don’t have time to answer emails at this point, in all honesty our 3 year daughter is our primary focus right now and doing what I need to do to keep up with work!  At this point, I’m not sure if I am ready to share what we are going through except for that we are going through a Family Medical Emergency and currently in the hospital with my daughter.  I’m overwelmed, I’m lost, I’ve cried so much, I’m confused, I’m a mommy, I miss my other girls!  I am many things that the past few days really fall into a blur!

I will be out of touch from the blogging world and facebook world for sometime to gain some focus on my daughter and my other girls and to get my 3 year old healthy again! While I know I have some sponsors out there that are waiting for some reviews from me…at this point my family is more important to me and I believe that many of  you understand that and I will thank you for that!  I hope that at one point I can update and things like that, but I’m not ready for that!

Family and friends have come from far away and close and it has been a major blessing!  I know that it is what family is all about, but it amazes me to know they are there for us and so many would do anything we need at any time.

Please accept my apology for the delay and PLEASE IF YOU CAN DO ANYTHING FOR US, Please PRAY FOR MY DAUGHTER AND MY FAMILY.  We really need that right now!

Thank you!

This week I would like to introduce you to Hanan from Lilac City Momma.  Hanan found me through my own blog and that is how I starting reading hers.

Hi, I’m Hanan.

When I can’t sleep, sometimes I lay on my tummy with my butt in the air like a baby does =P

Tell us all about you and your family

I am a 24 year women who loves photography, baking, and arts & crafts. My husband and I have been married for a little over a year and a half, and have been together for almost 5 years. We have had our typical ups and downs. You know, the dating, three months later getting pregnant, and oh yeah, breaking up two weeks before we were to be married. A lot to go through for a couple of 19 year olds! But despite statistics, we made it through and are now raising our two beautiful girls Carleigh (3.21.07) and Kendall (12.15.09), and we hope to make another lil baybah soon!

Catchick 6 Creations Custom Woolie Review and Giveaway Ends 12/27

So, I am a mommy who never really ventured out into the world of wool. I tried them way back when I first started cloth diapering and I liked them and then I royally messed up some wool I had by putting it in the dryer and it looked like something that I would put on my doll baby. Yes, I did do that. It was horrible and I broke down.

So it really took me a while to get back into wool and I think the wool dryer balls have drawn me back in, but I am paying much more attention to things now. Baby isn’t an infant anymore, so I can concentrate on what I am really doing. Haha.

Plus I always had that image that all wool made you really itchy but I learned not all wool makes you itchy. It really just depends on the top of wool that you chose and use. However Elizabeth was very helpful and walked me along the way with everything and told me what is considered itchy and what isn’t. Read the rest of this entry »
