Google Me This

Wednesday, January 15th, 2014 by by

So, yeah. I Googled myself. Everyone does that, right? I think? Maybe? (I really ran out of ways to waste time when I was supposed to be folding laundry.) I’m the only Lisa Page Rosenberg that showed up. The first few things I found were expected: this blog, my twitter page, a list of my old jobs on Internet Movie Database, and of course, a photo of me dressed as Princess Leia.

From there I fell into the sphere of The Other Lisa Rosenbergs. What had started as a quick look at my online profile became a search of other people with my name. There is a world full of Lisa Rosenbergs. As I read about them I envisioned the other Lisas and their lives.

I found:
A women’s study professor in Ontario.
A professional piccolo player in Michigan.
A nursing professor in Chicago.
A talk show host in New York.
A former ballerina, now social worker in New Jersey.
An artist in Chicago.
A real estate broker in St. Louis.
An associate chemistry professor in Canada.
An opthalmologist in Chicago.
An ad agency creative director in New York. (more…)

Favorites Lately

Here are a few things I’ve been loving lately:

1) If you are tired of Pinterest boards that make you feel depressed, inferior and utterly despondent over the lack of chevron in your home decorating, check out this board. It’s called “My Imaginary Well-Dressed Daughter.” It’s penned by a mother of boys who finds the craziest child fashion photos and turns them into hysterical musings about her imaginary daughter, Quinoa. I read every single pin in one sitting and laughed my ass off.
Here’s a sample:

In what could only be described as an existential crisis, Quinoa had some tough, pointed questions about what happens to clothes after they go out of style. #MIWDTD

2) Adam Pally on “The Mindy Project.” “The Mindy Project”, as I’ve already told you (more…)

Saying goodbye to this place.

We’ve just bought a little house. Our first. The bungalow we’ve been renting for the past five years will be someone else’s come March. That all still seems fictional right now. We’re only moving two blocks away, two blocks closer to the park, closer to Desmond, and closer to Felix. So it’s a good two blocks, a happy two. We will still walk to school and keep the same phone number.

This is at once exciting and somewhat bittersweet. I will miss this short, dead end street (more…)

My kids joke that the song “Thrift Shop” was written just for me.  If it wasn’t, it should have been, because you know I love me a good thrift store.

Since Halloween is around the corner and some of us are still trying to assemble costumes, I forced the entire family to hit our local “Savers”.  There was the requisite moping of course, so I tried to liven the situation while Rob combed the racks for costume ideas.

I would count to five at which time every kid had to hold up the ugliest shirt they could find.  The winner took a dollar.  I really wish I could have run the game and my camera at the same time.  Weston had quite the knack for picking winners.  After only two rounds we were all doubled over with laughter.  At the end, Weston came out $6.00 richer.

While we played, Rob found this: (more…)

DIY Kool Aid Foot Soak

Monday, September 16th, 2013 by by
And, yes, this is my hubby enjoying his spa experience

Ready to relax from a hard day’s work? Or maybe you just feel like you deserve some extra pampering? Here is an easy solution- a warm, relaxing foot soak. What do you need?

* 1 gallon of warm water
* 1 large bowl
* 1 cucumber, sliced
* 1 packet of lemonade flavored Kool-Aid

Pour everything together into a large bowl and just add your feet! It will refresh and invigorate your senses.

Enjoying your DIY home spa? Add a bit of my DIY brown sugar scrub to smooth your feet (and hands!) in order to give yourself the complete experience of relaxation.

Working Out Without Knowing It

Tuesday, August 13th, 2013 by by

While we were in New Hampshire last month, there was a great hill we had to walk up to use the neighbor’s pool. The kids ran up like it was nothing, and it reminded me how small people exercise without even realizing it. I had to wonder when that sort of ‘natural’ working out stops in our lives and how we can get it back. It seems like we have to carve time into our schedules to move our bodies, and that saddens me. I’ve been trying to take a cue from my kiddos and be active whenever I can (in the pool, outside while they’re playing, in the house cleaning or whatever), and I’ve been a bit more successful. There’s room for improvement, of course, but I’m trying to restructure my life a bit so it’s more “normal.”

Six years ago today, I played in the rain with my best friend…

I am so thankful for Mrs. Kuiken’s AP Prob and Stat class.

I am so grateful that we ran into you and Taylor on RAGBRAI where you shamelessly flirted with me…in front of my boyfriend :)

I am so happy that you decided to come to Normie’s house for our New Year’s Eve Party.

I am so glad you came to visit me over 2 hours away a week after our not-so-amazing first date.

I am so incredibly happy to have you on my team through this crazy adventure that we call life.

Blogging Should Be Easy……

Friday, August 2nd, 2013 by by

But it isn’t. Especially when my life has been consumed by trying to find a place to live, a place that will allow three dogs and a cat. Let me tell you something, that is not easy. Not one damn bit. BUT, I did it. I found us a new home. This is currently how it looks………

I don’t know who left me in charge of getting this place together, but they must have been crazy. I am terrible at organizing. That gene completely missed me altogether. It might help if I get off the computer and actually tried to get things done. ;)
