A Review of the Boba Baby Carrier (and a giveaway!)

Before I go into any detail at all about the Boba, let me say, I LOVE IT!!!  I love almost everything about it.  The Boba is comfortable, attractively designed, comes in earth-inspired colors, is supremely easy to adjust, will fit me or my husband, is made from organic materials, is manufactured in the US, and will last for years to come for carrying my son as he gets older, and more children.  I have filmed a video demonstration to let you see how the adjustments work, and how the Boba works with a heavier child.  Thanks to Melanie for letting us use her and her son, who is such a cutie.  And her daughter, who can be seen wandering around in segments LOL.

I know you are already convinced of how amazing this carrier is, so I am going to (more…)

Ellaroo Wrap Review and Giveaway

babywearingmonthThis post is part of “All About Babywearing” Month on Dirty Diaper Laundry and Mama Needs This.

If you had asked me while I was pregnant if I were planning on using a wrap for my son I might have laughed in your face.  The idea of wrapping multiple yards of fabric around myself and my son looked entirely too complicated.  I was certain I would never be able to figure out a wrap well enough to use it properly.  I also wasn’t a fan of how they looked.  I had only seen the stretchy, solid colored wraps.

Stumbling into Babywearing

Monday, October 5th, 2009 by by JM Guest Blogger

babywearingmonth This post is part of “All About Babywearing” Month

While I was pregnant I researched the crap out of cloth diapers.  Before my baby was born I knew all of the acronyms, how to wash, how to prep, all of the major brands and some of the not so major, the places to find info, etc.

While on that journey I noticed that (more…)

October is “All About Babywearing” Month

Monday, October 5th, 2009 by by JM Guest Blogger

Fresh off of “All About Wool” Week is another big event here on Dirty Diaper Laundry and our sister site Mama Needs This. Who needs a clean house or a social life when there is so much to blog about?!?!

October is all about Babywearing. I am going to be reviewing a lot of carriers including but not limited to: the brand new Boba from Sleepy Wrap, Rockin’ Ring Sling, Cybex 2.GO, Babyhawk, Ergo, and more. Plus look for giveaways! I will also be showing some helpful videos with tips and tricks for using your carrier. We skipped International Babywearing Week and decided to make it a whole month. Plus, it happens to be International Attachment Parenting month, and what is more AP than wearing your baby close to your heart?

The whole month will not be devoted to babywearing. I will still be posting (more…)

More Highlights from ABC- Babywearing Focus

Saturday, September 19th, 2009 by by JM Guest Blogger

Along with all of the amazing cloth diaper products unleashed at ABC Kids Expo, baby carriers were also introducing some very exciting products!

First, the one I am most excited about, the Boba from NAP, the makers of Sleepy Wrap.  Boba is a Soft Structure carrier (SSC) that is intended for toddlers 1-4 years old and around 20 pounds and up. Boba has a few extra inches of height to keep the toddler’s body safe and secure.  The coolest thing about it: there are foot straps attached to the waist belt for the child’s feet to sit in.  This enables a healthy sitting position for the child.  The optimum position for a baby being worn is a frog leg position with the knees close to a ninety degree angle, which is the goal of this carrier.  As long as the child is cooperative, this is a great way to continue babywearing as your baby is heavier and older.  Right now the carrier comes in solid colors and one print, with plans for more prints in the future.  It will retail for around 99 and be shipping sometime in late September.  Want a peek? New Carrier

Monday, July 20th, 2009 by by Jess

We recently went to visit my hometown to attend the annual festival that is held there. It is a typical small town festival, with food vendors, performers, and local people selling their arts and crafts. While there, I met the owner of a work at home mom company called The Addiction Baby Company. She hand sews unique mei-tei style baby carriers with her mother. What makes her carriers unique, besides being made of either fleece or all natural hemp materials, is that the carrier has a blanket that tucks inside a sewn in pouch.

I was looking for a new carrier that I could wear on my back, and easily get through airport security with. The choices that I had narrowed it down to were a mei-tei style carrier, a Baby K’tan, or an Ergo. The Baby K’tan interested me, because I like the (more…)

Ithaca- Where crunchiness roams

Monday, June 29th, 2009 by by JM Guest Blogger

Today was yet another trip to Ithaca, NY.  Yes, Ithaca is “gorges”  hah hah.  Now that that is out of your system I will continue. If you aren’t aware, Ithaca is a very “green” city.  I love the fact that when I go there I am almost soggy compared to the general public.  It gives me something to strive for!

My mission today was to pick up my Ergo backpack attachment for my Ergo Carrier.  Since I am flying to Charlotte next week alone I am determined to lighten my load.  Instead of carrying my son in the ergo and having to carry a diaper bag I just solved my problem!

Somehow I timed it perfectly.  There was a nasty thunderstorm this morning, so we waited for it to pass.  I picked up my friend and her daughter and by the time we made it to Ithaca it was drizzly.  We both wore our babies, she used a backpack carrier and I put Fletcher in the Didy wrap I am borrowing from Woowoomama.  I used the front facing carry and it was great.  I am getting the hang of using a wrap and starting to enjoy it.

Our first stop was Mama Goose.  This is a consignment store, but it also sells (more…)

Let me count the ways…

dsc_31493

You make my life so simple in so many ways.  You are always in my car when I need you.  You have a handy pocket for my wallet and keys that I use daily.  You let my son chew on your straps while we shop.  You have the most awesome (more…)
