Let me start off by saying that these Easter Peep Pops were inspired by the people who make Peeps. While shopping the other day, I noticed pops for sale that were basically Peeps stacked on a lollipop stick. To me it seemed cheaper to just buy a bunch of Peeps and some sticks and make them myself. I wanted you to know that this was not my idea because the more I look at them, the more they look kind of obscene. But hey, the Peeps people managed to get them on store shelves, so maybe I need to get my mind out of the gutter. (more…)

One of the first years I was working, I bought the game Ants in the Pants. My three year olds had a hard time with it, but some of my four year olds and older students really loved trying to get the ants in the pants!
A couple weeks ago, I was wondering through the dollar aisle at Target (as I do almost weekly with my Son) when I happened to notice a large plastic egg filled with jumping bunnies! I figured for a buck they would be worth it. THEN I found this cool green basket in the dollar section that kinda reminded me of grass, and I thought: Bunnies in the Grass!
This would be played just like Ants in the Pants, but with Bunnies in the Grass! The bunnies I got came in three colors (so, three players), however you could easily buy two sets and just use a sharpie to draw spots on the second set to make it up to 6 players.
You will want to give each player his/her colored bunnies, and then take turns trying to get the bunnies in the “grass” (aka in the basket). (more…)
Today is going to be jammed packed for us; the whole day over at my mom’s doing Easter festivities and celebrating Belly’s birthday. We’re having lunch there, then doing Belly’s birthday party, then an Easter egg hunt, followed by dessert and just hanging out with all of our family and friends. My younger brother is saying it’s wrong of us to celebrate Belly’s birthday on Easter, I told him while Belly’s birthday falls on the same time every year, Easter doesn’t; and I’m not adjusting her birthday for it. lol Not to mention, most of our extended family lives roughly an hour from us, and everyone is happy to take advantage of the fact that everyone won’t have to make two trips out this way in a short time period.
The kids are having a great Easter morning so far. We cut back a lot on what we put in baskets this year. Not necessarily intentionally. It was just with all the preparations of everything else we just completely forgot to buy Easter basket stuff. The boys got new markers, big box of crayons, coloring books, and just a little candy. Belly got chalk, a small My Little Pony set, and an even smaller amount of candy.
Now… onto this week’s pages!! I have 5 for you this week. One was actually made a few weeks ago, but I just got to share it this week. (more…)
Easter has come and gone. Thank goodness!
My life has been soooo hectic in preparing for Easter, and Belly’s party, and finishing my present for my cousin’s baby shower, I am just so happy that all of it has passed. My life can finally go back to normal.
Here are some pictures of the Easter portion of yesterday:
The Easter Bunny made a special early visit to our apartment one night last week while we slept. Noah followed all the paper eggs with “N” on them. They led all the way down the hall, through the kitchen , and directly to the chair where he normally eats his breakfast.
On the table by his chair he found a treat bag! The Easter Bunny had put one chocolate egg in each of the bigger plastic eggs. He also gave Noah three marshmallow ice cream cones! (more…)
1) Is everyone ready for Easter? Everything is ready here but the weather. Last year Easter was almost a month earlier and we had beautiful weather. This year? We’re going to be lucky if we hit 60. We girls have our cute spring-y dresses at the ready, but we’ll probably end up with our winter coats on over them. We’re having our families over for Sunday brunch and an egg hunt – and to celebrate our two girls’ birthdays. Crossing fingers for sun. (more…)
“Sounds like he knows you pretty well.”
“Yeah and he knew I really liked candy too. How’d he know that one?”
“That’s pretty specific information. Sounds like he did his homework.”
“And Mom? My underpants are on backwards and they are going inside my bottom cheeks.”
“That sounds uncomfortable.”
“Yeah. It very is.”
What a wonderful Easter!
Papap & Gamma hosted a wonderful bbq.
Everyone in our little family went.
Abu & Meme.
Tio & Tia.
Uncle Jeff (not blood but may as well be).
The 5 of us, of course.
The food was OUT OF THIS WORLD.
Papap really outdid himself w/ the brisket,
the sausage, the chicken, & the ribs.
That’s a whole lotta meat!
Oh, gotta mention the fab bbq sauce Papap makes.
But I have to mention that the whole day wasn’t fab.
The morning was treacherous.
The kids almost unbearable.
We even threatened to not go to the bbq.
That’s how bad it was.
And to top it off,
they chose to only nap for about an hour. (more…)
Easter weekend has come and gone and unlike the busy Easter weekends of the past this year found us enjoying a more-laid-back-just-the-four-of-us kind of Easter and it was really fantastic. I’m sure most of my readers by now know that I am a working mom and the bulk of my hours are in the late afternoon through the late evening and this works for me because it allows me most of the benefits of being a stay at home mom without actually being a stay at home mom (more of that will be talked about in a post soon)…..the con of my job is that I work about 50% of the weekends through the year and if they fall on a holiday I am for the most part stuck working the holiday…..so I wasn’t surprised when it was my lot this year to work the Saturday and Sunday of the Easter weekend. I was lucky enough to have Good Friday and Easter Monday off to celebrate with family and friends if need be and of course I didn’t start work until 230 in the afternoon on Easter Sunday so I had all morning to celebrate. We enjoyed a lovely Easter Sunday at our home with most of our family and some close friends. The weather was “fabulous” for Illinois – meaning it didn’t rain and we didn’t have to wear winter coats! I was worried about the uprising we would have had on our hands had we not been able to pull off our Easter egg hunt.
My father-in-law drove in from Iowa on Friday night and we promptly put him on egg-stuffing duty Saturday evening. He was here last year doing the exact same thing so we told him that qualified it as a “tradition” and he’s now committed to the work every year.
It’s fun to have kids of varying ages at the holidays. Even though my big kids seem so grown up to me, they were still up at 6 a.m. to look for their baskets and they were still super-excited to hunt for eggs. It’s nice to know that there’s (more…)
