This week is little Evelyn’s first birthday. I cannot believe that my baby is getting to be such a little lady. To celebrate this big occasion, I’ll be doing a birthday bonanza here on my blog! All of my posts this week and into next (getting a late start with the holiday) will be about all things birthday. Cakes, cupcakes, decorations, clothes, and more!
Eve’s birthday party will be in the theme of “puppies and poodles.” I chose this theme because my daughter is in love with dogs. Any time she sees a dog, or an animal that remotely looks like a dog (squirrels, cats, horses), she laughs hysterically and squeals “Doggy!” When looking for dog themed party items, I noticed that they all seemed very boyish. The dogs all looked tough, and the backgrounds were blue and red. That doesn’t fit Eve’s personality at all. She is very girly and soft. So then I found items that were themed with poodles, and it was mostly on clearance! So I took a bit from each theme and came up with “puppies and poodles,” which I think fits her perfectly.
Stay tuned for lots of party planning ideas for this theme as well as general party planning tips and stories!
I see babies cry. I watch them grow.
They’ll learn much more than I’ll ever know.
And I think to myself, what a ONEderful world.
One year ago tomorrow, we welcomed you into our family. It was one of the very best days of my life.
Celebrating is all about the people you are celebrating with! So, this year for Naomi’s first birthday, we celebrated a couple of weeks early. My mom was still in town after helping us move in, and we decided to throw a little party together before she left. Better to celebrate early with family than on time without! A quick trip to the HEB (grocery store in Texas, for those unfamiliar) for some balloons and a cake and we were on our way to a party. After a little searching around the house and I found a spare shower curtain for a table cloth and a ball that matched our color theme perfectly and worked as a centerpiece. I hung a few of the rice lanterns I got for our sun porch around the room and we had a pretty festive little table set up!
Naomi was not totally sure what to make of it all! (more…)
I can not believe that a whole year has gone by since my Bellarina Belly Button was born. It just seems so inconceivable to me that she’s now 1, but 1 she is. It has been a very hard year, but so wonderful too, and I love my girl so much.
“What? You’ve never seen someone turn ONE before?”
Today is your 365th day on Earth. An entire year. Today, you are ONE.
Sweet girl, I would need at least that many days to tell you (more…)
