Oh yeah, now I remember. (Scarf Post #1)

So a few months ago, I decided I would make my sister a scarf for her birthday. She’s one of those weirdos (like Zach) who actually like scarfs. Me, I can’t stand them. Anything I wear that sits to close to my neck makes me feel like I’m choking or gives my throat that tight feeling like I’m about to throw up. I kept putting off starting, thinking, “Oh her birthday isn’t for X months/weeks. I have time.” Then it was two days before her birthday and not only had I not started, I hadn’t even picked out a design or gotten any yarn for it. Then it took me forever to do those, trying to find the perfect matches that would be best for her. Last week, I finally got the yarn and finally decided on a pattern…only a week after her birthday. I got right on to making it, but I had to start over a few times since the design of it was something still sort of new to me.

Now it’s a week later, and I already feel like I’ve been working on this scarf forever. In reality, I’ve only gotten 6 of the 50 inches needed done. Since I’ve gotten the design down, it’s finally moving a little faster, but even then I’m only averaging to get 1 repeat done an hour. Each repeat only equals about 2 – 2 1/2 inches, thus it’s going to take me about 20ish repeats to finish it. I’ve been working on it for an hour each afternoon, but if I ever want to finish this, I’m going to need to try to squeeze in an hour at night also.

I really love the yarn I picked for the scarf. The scarf I made her for Christmas was made from a yarn that lightly faded back and forth from a really pale pink to a sort of dusty rose color. I wanted this one to be more colorful, plus I wanted it made of a lighter yarn since we have way more hot months than cold, and she will wear light scarfs in the warm months too. I decided on a (more…)

What I’ve been up to knit-wise ((PLUS other stuff lol))

adding in a few hours later – technically we should call this the never ending blog posts since I seem to keep coming and adding this, that, and a pool table to it. I promise I will try to remember to add every single little teensy tiny bit this time. lol (but I can make no real guarantees)

Part I:
So, other than a baby hat I made for my cousin’s wife in the beginning of April I have not made anything new. (Note to self – message cousin’s wife to find out if she can send me a picture of said hat) After I finished the hat I got it stuck in my head that I wanted to try my hand at lace… and I was having no luck on it… at all. Then one night I had a light bulb moment. I’ve been using (more…)

The blog post entitled “I am awesome.”

A little over a year ago I picked up knitting, and then a few months ago I picked up crocheting. (around November) John thought both were highly amusing, making me seem little-old-ladyish, and he gave me a month, on both, before saying I’d quit.

Ha! In case you didn’t know, I love to prove John wrong about stuff. lol Nothing he could have said would’ve pushed me to keep at it more than that. Even when I’d be frustrated and cussing vehemently inside my head and swearing to snap all my hooks and needles in half, I’d never admit it to him. He’d look over at me, smirk, and ask “Having problems baby?” To which I just smile, and say “Nope, all good.” So I can’t wait for him to come home tonight. “Why?” you ask.

Because I freaking designed that hat. (more…)

Bella’s hat.

So I decided to try out knitting and made Bella a hat! The pattern, well it sucked. John says it could just be my fault the hat came out nothing like it said it would since it was my first try at knitting, but just in case its not my fault I’ll keep the link to myself. Now this took me a MONTH to do, but then I worked on it in fits of starting and stopping and lots of frustration. Logic tells me I should have started smaller, but come on, when have I ever listened to logic?
So here’s 1/2 way through:

And here’s done knitting. You will notice (more…)
