Toddler Pillow DIY Made Simple

Baby Bear REALLY wanted a pillow!  She took a pillow off the couch and put it in her little toddler bed.  We thought that was so cute, we decided to look for a ‘real’ pillow for her.  When we went to Target, all of the pillows were made of synthetic materials and felt really plastic. Plus, there were no additional pillowcases that could be purchased to change the pillow case while washing. I measured the size of the pillow and decided to make one using natural and recycled materials.

fabric, scissors and sewing machine for DIY pillow

Materials
3/8 yard (14×16 inches if you are using a scrap) fabric for pillowcase
stuffing (we chose cotton, but there are many options)
fat quarter for pillow case or additional 1/2 yard for pillowcase

DIY Camera Strap Cover

When my husband bought me a SLR camera, I knew I wanted to make it distinctive, so I made a camera strap cover for it. You can too!

Fabric - I bought a precut Jelly Roll at Joann’s, but you can use any scrap fabric.

Sewing Adventures, cont.

I got a new serger. It’s a machine that does this cool stitching that saves lots of time & is just really good for more commercial type stuff. In other words, the stitching is more durable along all the seams. Everyone knows what I’m talking about, you just don’t know it. Look inside your shirts or shorts or pants. Yeah, that funky stitch that looks really complicated. That’s it.

Did I really need it?

Yep.
No doubt.

It speeds up the process of sewing 2 pieces of fabric together. Makes life easier & honestly, w/ triplets, well worth the $179 I spent. B/c not only do I need some extra time, I also need a great deal & you can (more…)

Sewing for my girls & their dolls :)

So, I have an addiction. It’s called sewing. I like to find patterns & sew cute stuff for my girls. With the leftover fabric, I’m sewing their babies clothes too. This shirring top I made was a bit of a disaster. The instructions, although good, wouldn’t work all that well w/ my big gun sewing machine. Betty Brother doesn’t like elastic thread. Not at all.

Thankfully Sally Singer doesn’t mind it so much. I still haven’t gotten the hang of it. I need more practice. But for now, the girls have a cute top to start with & their dolls match them.
