Thankful Tuesday

This hasn’t been the best day, or week for that matter. I have been dealing with some crap lately, and I’m totally in a funk right now. I really trying not to whine or throw myself a big, weepy, whiny pity party, but it’s haaaard…. see?! Anyway, these feelings are mostly related to things I cannot really talk about at the moment. Hopefully (oh please, oh please, oh please) it will all change soon. This too shall pass, right?! RIGHT?!

Anyhoo, for now I would just like to say that I’m still thankful. Thankful that, at this moment, I am neither covered in puke nor cleaning it. I am not even puking the puke. These are all things I have been doing over the last four days. Also, other horribly gross things. Things we don’t want to talk about here, or anywhere for that matter. Except maybe over at Dooce. She’s got a way with words, that one.

I got to see my sister, Dawn, last Thursday. She and her family were in Orlando for the week and made a special trip up to Jax to visit with me and Haeden (oh, I’m thankful for that, too!). He was acting like a bit of a turd until she stuck a twenty in his pocket. I am so not kidding. I hope it was just coincidence, but he totally did a one-eighty after that and it was all hugs and kisses from then on. Damn kids today, right?

Later that evening, I was trying to coax him back to sleep in his own bed when he turned to me and said, “Mommy, my body hurts.” He’s been telling me that pretty much everything hurts lately, so I didn’t really take him seriously until he suddenly sat straight up and then leaned over and (more…)

I am thankful for VACATIONS! Even the mini ones.
Our weekend trip to Orlando was a blast. It was also hot and sticky and ohmigod HOT, but it was a great time. I expected that we would take a bazillion or so pictures, but I was so wrong. On the first day, I was actually worried because I forgot to bring the camera charger, but that worry was for nothing (as usual) since we took probably less than twenty pictures over the three day trip. I blame the heat. It was just too hot (have I mentioned how hot it was?! Hotter than hot!) to stand out in the sun long enough to pose for pictures, or to even bother with taking the camera in and out of my backpack. That was precious energy that I need to keep myself from passing out from the heat. Also, those pictures probably wouldn’t have been pretty anyway. I caught a glimpse of my reflection in a window and, uh, you guys don’t need to see what I saw anyway!

We arrived in Orlando Saturday afternoon and, (more…)

This week, I’m especially thankful for all of the (great) grandma’s in Haeden’s life. This past weekend, we spent Saturday afternoon with Dan’s mom and Sunday afternoon with my mom and grandmother, also known as Oma. Both visits involved pool time and delicious food. My heart runneth over, and my stomach…well, now it does spilleth over my jeans.
There is SO. MUCH. LOVE. that surrounds my little guy. I hope he knows just how lucky he is to have these women in his life. I am sure he will someday. It’s one lesson I’ll make sure he learns.

Woo hoo! Look at me doing this post on time. You’re impressed, right?

This week I want to talk about my Mom. If there is anyone I’m crazy thankful for (besides my babe and my hubs, of course), it’s my Ma. She is truly one of my best friends and I don’t like to think I’m co-dependent or anything, but I don’t like to let a day go by without talking to her on the phone at least once. That’s just how we roll. And, yeah, I know that usually it’s the parent who wants to brag on their kids, but this week I want to thank my Mom for being the wonderful, selfless person that she is. Let me count the ways: (more…)

This past weekend was quite the whirlwind! I do believe it was over in the blink of an eye! Here I sit with a cup of hot chocolate (coffee = blech), willing my eyes to stay open and typing away at the computer trying to look busy. I can type pretty well with my eyes closed, so I don’t see what the big deal is, really. I guess the bosses think it’s unprofessional or something? Easy for them to say since they have office doors!

My four day weekend was just splendid. I am so thankful that my sister and brother-in-law were able to be here. We started the weekend off a little early with a night out on the town, complete with wings and beer followed by more beer, pina coladas, and mojitos at the beach. Throw in some live music courtesy of a local hottie, and you have got one hell of a Thursday evening!

Friday, the ladies and Haeden spent the day shopping while the boys (minus my hungover hubby) golfed. I’m pretty sure Haeden would have preferred to be golfing with the guys, but at least he got to ride an “ackickle!” (more…)

This is the third week of Thankful Tuesday.
1. I’m so, so, so thankful that my seester is coming to town today! I cannot wait to see her! We have lots of fun activities planned for the long weekend, and I am ready to get this party started.
2. Pretty stoked at the opportunity to be a blogger for justmommies.com! Hope to make lots of new friends!
3. I am thankful that I finished my first 5K on Saturday. My time pretty much sucked, however, the fact that I did not pass out from heat exhaustion is definitely something to be proud of! Note to self: do not run in 100 degree heat at 5pm in the afternoon. Not even the beach breeze can make that pleasant!
What are you thankful for this week?

Thankful Tuesday

My Mom always taught me to “count my blessings”. It’s often easier said than done… like when my bank account is low, the cupboards are bare and my roots have grown out… all at the same time, of course. I do think, however, that it is an important thing to remember. You don’t even need to be religious to find the significance in this as it is really the same thing as reminding yourself to keep a positive outlook.

In all honesty, being positive all the time might be a little more than I can take. I don’t think that I am necessarily a negative person, but let’s just say that nobody has ever called me “Susie Sunshine” either. And so, in an effort to count my blessings a little more often, I would like to start a weekly post that I will deem “Thankful Tuesday”. Because, let’s face it, I have plenty to be thankful for.

1. Haeden (more…)
