> Does your baby have cradle cap?

Madeleine has some dry skin at the beginning of her hairline. It doesn't bother her, but it's kinda yucky. I've read that 50% of babies get cradle cap, so someone here must have it too! What do you do about it?

My doctor said it will go away on it's own and I can put oil on it if I want. Just wondering how anyone else might be dealing with this.

Preston has it a little bit but I don't really do anything for it. I do lotion his head now but I don't think it makes a difference.

Keira had it but it's gone now. All my kids had it. With the other 2 I used a mild dandruff shampoo and it went away real fast. This time I just made sure that I combed out what I could and then washed it with a washcloth and kinda scrubbed the area, not hard though lol... and it went away quickly too. My ped said that it only bothers us and the best thing to do is ignore it and it will go away on its own.

Karilyn never got it but a little boy I was watching a few months ago had it pretty bad and it use to drive me crazy! I put baby oil on it and used a washcloth or soft brush to get some of it off but I never could get it completely gone (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

Benjamins got a little bit of it and its slowly going away I found that it increased when we use Johnsons baby shampoo so now we use Aveeno and its doing a little bit better we also make sure to brush out as much as we can. doesn't bother him though

Heidi has a little at the front at the moment It's just browny looking, but not scaly or red or itchy. But if u scratch it, it comes off in sort of flakes.
The DR said that it will go on its own and its cos of new hair growing and no need to do anything unless it gets red or itchy.

I applied some oil and used the soft brush and that seemed to help quite a bit. It made her hair oily, but oh well....

Thanks so much for all the advice!

Lucas as had a little bit of it this week, so when I gave him a bath I added a bit of Burt's Bees Apricot oil to the washcloth and massaged it on his scalp...it worked really well. Plus it smells like heaven! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/inlove.gif)

Jordana had it and the DR told me to put baby oil on it (the baby oil gel works best) and brush over the area with a new soft tooth brush. She said if we didn't "sloph it off" it would get hard and all her hair would fall out (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ohmy.gif)

Teagen had it...and I cannot stand it! I work in childcare and we've had 2 year olds with thick brown scabs on their heads...you're rubbing their hair as they fall asleep and then you feel that?? Gross! So I spent about a week, every night I would give her a bath, I took a fine tooth comb and a bottle of baby oil and "scraped" her head. It didn't hurt because I didn't do it for very long but each night I would get all of it off in a section. There was a ton of dead skin on the comb though, yellowish nasty stuff, yuck!

We are dealing with it, too. Since I do soap, I use my own mix of cocunut oil and olive oile with rosemay extract (good for excema and dry skin). I kept reading in my books to put baby oil, etc on it but it jusn't helping. aaaaaathi is much better.
