Okay, so it was a bit of a challenge with the insurance company at first, but after it all got done, it was all worth it!!! And, the fact that I have to get up at 5 AM EVERY DAY OF THE WEEK to stick this patch on my daughter to make it work for her, is also COMPLETELY worth the results that I see in her the first day that she used it!! Is anyone else's child using the brand-new Daytrana patch? If so, do you like it, hate it . . . what's the scoop? If you're not and having trouble with compliance, etc. . . TALK TO YOUR DOC . . . IT'S BRAND NEW AND WE HAVE MEDICAL ASSISTANCE AND THEY PAID FOR IT!!! All in ONE DAY!!! It works like a CHARM!! Because you have to stick it on so early in the morning (before they wake up), the child wakes up in a GOOD MOOD!!! (first time for Ashley in a LONG, LONG TIME!!!) She was eager to go to school and deal with her mean teacher and she had dreamed that she would get a good behavior card! She didn't get the best one that day, but she didn't get a bad one!! Thank goodness!! She was easy to get ready for school and NO conflicts with her Risperdal (bipolar med) before school. I can't stress to you enough how much I LOVE THIS PATCH!!!! It's clear and only about 2" square . . . it goes on their hip, so the other kids can't even see it!! It gets removed at school . . . at 2 pm. And it doesn't wear off for 9 hours after application!!! And the worst side effect is some mild skin irritation (possibly)!!! Let me know ladies, what you think!!!! |

A few months ago, I said to my husband that I really wish Trevor's meds were available in a patch so mornings would be so much easier! Next thing I know, there is a commercial for a new patch! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I really would love to try it, but am scared to switch meds since we finally found something that is working. I wish Concerta had a patch. How many mg's do they come in?

I am really not sure . . . I guess that you could go the manufacturer's website to find out . . . or the doc would know . . . I had an advertisement from a magazine and he thought it would be perfect for my daughter b/c she protests taking her meds by mouth!
Some mornings, she doesn't even wake up when I stick it on her!! It's GREAT!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) I STILL can't get over the change in her! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) |

The last time we went to the DR, he mentioned the patch. Sounds like it is working really well!! I am so happy for you! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) We have issues with Tyler in the morning too.

I read on the package that it delivers 10 mg of medication over 9 hours. So, I guess it works like an extended release medication . . . all I know is that it has been a GODSEND FOR MY DAUGHTER!!!
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) I'd like to slap it on a few adults that I know in my life, if I could!!! Best of luck . . . feel free to ask any other questions if you'd like . . . I have to package insert and the box available if you want to know anything else! Jen |

My cousin was on the test cycle for this patch. My aunt swears by it. Said it made all the difference in his life. Unfortunately, now that the test cycle is over he's not on it anymore. He's 17 now, though...so they're trying to adjust without it!

Hi I'm new to this site and to Daytrana. Today was the first day for me to try it on my daughter (12 yrs old). I had a great deal of difficulty just getting the backing off w/o pulling off the meds. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!!

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) I had this problem in the beginning, too . . . but I am able to use my fingernails to peel off the backing . . . I bend it in the middle and peel at the corners . . . I only touch it with my fingernails (to keep the medicine off of my skin). I also had a problem with the patch rolling off of my daughter's skin and onto her pajamas until she got up. The pharmacist told me to use paper tape to secure the patch.
What time do you put the patch on your daughter? What time do you take it off? I was putting it on Ashley at 5 am and then the nurse at school was taking it off of her at 2. But, since the doctor felt like we were wasting the time from 7-8:30 (she wasn't at school yet), we are now putting it on at 6:30 and I take it off when she gets home from school at 3:45. This way, she doesn't have to get pulled out of class to have it taken off. (one less disruption). I hope that the difficulty you're having doesn't outweigh the benefit of the patch . . . it's been a near miracle for us . . . so much that I am going to switch her twin brother to the patch at his next appointment in two weeks. Best of luck . . . welcome to the board . . . and I hope to chat with you again soon!!!! |
