Okay, i know a lot of you have mentioned the baby hiccuping a lot and that got me thinking about something i had read a while back about it being a bad sign or something. Well, i finally found the correct info on it. I found it in What to Expect While Expecting. (pg 520) Here it is. KNOTS and TANGLES IN THE CORDWhat are they? Once in a while, the umbilical cord becomes knotted or tangles or wrapped around a fetus, often at the neck (when it is known as a "nuchalcord") These umbilical cord conditions may cause no problems or may slow or stop the flow of blood to the fetus. A stoppage of blood flow can be fatal to the fetus, so action must be taken immedicately if such a cord problem is suspected. Signs and symptoms. Studies have shown that the most frequent sign is a significant decrease in fetal activitiy after 37wks. Another possible sign is frequent hiccups at 36 to 40 wks - two or four episodes every twenty -four hours, each lasting more than ten minutes. If you experience eiither of these symptoms or any other unexpected change in fetal behaviour, call your practitioner at once and ask to have the condition of your fetus checked. If you're in labor, and the fetus is being monitored, the cord problem may show up in abnormal fetal heart tracings. An ultrasound can be used to uncover a problem with the cord. Treatment. If there is a cord problem, immedicate delivery, usually by cesarean, is the best approach. ... so i guess right now, you girls dont' have to worry about it... just when we get closer to our due dates. I just wanted to post this to clarify what i had posted before. (IMG: style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I am so glad you all are being cautious. I would deffinatley mention it. For me it was to late (IMG: style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) and honestly I don't remember him having hiccups very often. My daughter, who was born alive and stil is (IMG: style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) had them all the time! You ladies take care and just make sure and monitor yourself and your baby. pay attention to changes in movement wether it's more of less. Good Luck to everyone and may God Bless all of you. Love, Dolores. In memory of my Son, Anthony Evan, died b/c of umbilical cord strangulation. (wrapped around his neck twice, and had a knot in it) at 38 gestational weeks. No question is a stupid question, especially when it can save your child's life.
