Could someone tell me which IUD does Medicaid pay for? Which IUD would you recommend? I heard that the plastic ones are better then the copper ones. Could someone please give me some advice, I'm really nervous about it. Thanks.

I am not sure which IUD medicaid pays for, but to find out, either jsut call them and ask, or look it up in your prescription handbook.
I personally have the Mirena one, the plastic one with some local progesterone. I absolutely love it and have had no problems whatsoever with it. I really have had no side effects, and my periods are very light, yeah!!! Plus, dh and i wanted to have more kids, so 5 years vs 10 years was better for us. I know they can be removed at anytime, but the 5 year just sounded so much nicer. HTH.

Medicaid payed for my Mirena IUD (The plastic one.)
I love mine. Putting it in was very uncomfortable to say the least, but it only lasted for a few minutes, and Im so glad I have it now. I have no experience with the Paragard (Copper) but I know Emma has it, so hopefully she will pop in. I do know that you can have much heavier periods with the Paragard. The Mirena contains progesterone, while Paragard contains no hormones at all.

I have friends in the US who've had Mirena paid for by Medicaid....
I love my copper IUD - like any form of IUD, the insertion was uncomfortable & the first month was a bit horrible with minor cramping & spotting, but now I love it!
