Okay, with the patch you're supposed to wear it for 3 weeks, then have it off for the 4th week. You are supposed to start wearing the patch on the 1st day of your period, which was the 8th for me. I wore it for 3 weeks and took it off today and didn't put it another one on but I noticed I'm not supposed to start my period until around Aug. 6th. Did I do something wrong?

You're suppose to wear a new patch each week, not 1 patch for 3 weeks.

As for your period not coming until August 6th, I'm confused. How could you know that? Are you charting or something? A 28 day cycle would make you have your period on August 4th, a 30 day cycle would make you have it on August 6th. Possibly sooner, since you'll be going a few days without any birth control hormone entering your body.

I'm not 100% sure how it works as we don't have it here in NZ - so I am not very familiar with it. If you're confused the best thing to do is ring your doctor! :)

So, if you put it on on the 8th you should have put a new one on on the 15, 22, and then taken it off yesterday (29th). What is happening is that since you have a steady flow of hormones from the patch and then suddenly take it off (your 4th week) your body notices a sudden drop in hormones and forces a period. Because you started the patch while on your period, it is going to make this "cycle" short. But the next month when you start taking it, which would be on the 5th of August, you will have 3 weeks of no period and then your off week and you will have it.

I don't know if you were wearing one patch for 3 weeks, if you were, you need to take it off and wait for your period and start over. If you were wearing only one patch then you also didn't have any pregnancy protection from it either.

Anyway, yes, I do realize I am supposed to change my patch every week and I have. I was just confused as to whether my cycle was supposed to be short or not (Thanks kasie!). I got my period on the 1st.
