Hi ladies. I had the Mirena put in September '07 and I'm getting it out tomorrow. I read on a sheet my Dr gave me about the IUD when I got it in that the chance of miscarrying after you have the IUD removed is about 30% if you try right away. I had a miscarriage with my first and it was emotionally scarring, so the thought of having that high of a risk to miscarry again scares me to death! So with that info we've decided to just use condoms or natural planning for at least a month or two until my uterus can be more baby friendly. So why am I posting? lol I've looked around on the internet to back up that stat and I can't find it anywhere and was just wondering if any of you have had the IUD removed and had success getting pregnant right away or have had a miscarriage after it was removed. Any input would be helpful. Thanks!

It certainly doesn't hurt to wait a few cycles. The IUD causes inflammation to the uterine lining (that's how it works to interrupt pregnancy by preventing implantation). It can take a few cycles for lining to build up and stabilize again after the IUD is removed, which will reduce the possibility of miscarrying.
