Hey guys, I've never posted in this room before but I wasn't getting much response from October 2007 PR...

I just had my mirena put in yesterday and im really having some pain here.. Im wondering how long does this last and should i be concerned? My DR. said it could last up to 3 days and if it goes longer than to call him. But i really didn't think his version of "Mild cramping" would feel like this.. i had to sit in the exam room for like 15 mins after he put it in because it really hurt...

whats is your guys experience with it?

welcome.gif to the board!

Well just from reading all the other posts about ladies who have had the mirena. They too have had cramps and bleeding. It seems to me that it tends to be different for each person. I def agree that if it lasts longer than 3 days and does not seems to be getting better..especially if it gets worse...you should call your doctor and see what the problem is. It may have been put in wrong. Your body may just have a harder time getting used to it. I hope that the cramping goes away and you feel better!! GL!! I hope some of the other ladies here can give you actual experience related help. biggrin.gif

Its all normal! I had some sharp painful cramps for the first 2 days, and some spotting for 2 days as well. So you shouldn't be concerned unless it lasts longer than 3 like he said. Try a heating pad, and some Tylenol!

Yea the cramping is normal and annoying! I have had mine for 20 months now. I noticed a lot of changes in my cycle since being on the Mirena. You will probably experience random spotting and maybe even no period at all. I am pretty regular now though. I never had sore bbs except for when I was PG with DS and DD so the first time I had that I freaked. But now I am used to it. My latest IUD adventure was the loss of my IUD strings - had to have an ultrasound done but everything was ok...Good luck! It is really effective!

Yes, I had similar pain immediately afterward. Unfortunately it comes along with it. dry.gif I also bled for about a month after it was in which was very frustrating!
