Do you prefer an epidural or spinal? Many of you know my epidural sadly failed me, and didn't work properly. Maybe a spinal would have been better? I've heard so many ladies say they don't feel single touch. Hopefully I'll have that next time and it will work!

Were you satisfied with your spinal and/or epidural?
MamaToAlexis
I've never had an epidural, so I can't really give an opinion there.
But I LOVED my spinal! It worked super-well for me.. I didn't feel anything at all.

I've had both and much prefer the spinal. I was up sooner and felt less during the cesarean.

Ditto! I had no problems what so ever with my spinals.

Bless them both for helping with the pain, but I didnt like either of them. The side effects and residual pains were annoying.

Epidural and it was perfect wink.gif The doc plays a role. I felt nothing BUT i could still move my legs 1 hour after operation....grin.gif

I've only had an epidural. It was great when I was in labor, but started wearing off about 1/2 way through the c-section.

I couldn't feel a thing with my epidural. It might have worked too well, since I felt like I couldn't breathe at one point. I'm pretty sure I regained feeling fairly soon, since I don't remember it being an issue. Maybe I was just too tired to try and move until the next morning. I guess it does depend on the skill of the doctor.

I have never had a epidural but I loved my spinal it never failed me and reacted quick and wore off about a hour after surgery so I wasnt numb for hours. The only thing I dont particulary care for is the fact that I STILL have pains in my spine from it (3 months later!)

I've only had a spinal and other than making me nauseous, it worked well I guess.

I also get nauseous from the spinal. It has gotten to the point where I make them give me a shot of Zofran before they even get going.

my epidurals were wonderful. The one spinal I had was a nightmare. Did not work eventhough they tipped the table upside down to try to get it to spread.

Never had an epidural but the spinal was good, didnt feel a thing but for tugging but I hated the after affects

I never had an epi. The spinal worked great for me, I had no issues.

I had an epi for my failed external version. I could feel everything still, so I was happy to get a spinal and have made sure to get one every time. I made darn sure I didn't feel a thing before that knife came near me.

Spinal with my first - great. Spinal with my second which failed and then epi was given after and it was a terrible experience. My third was spinal and it was an awesome experience.

I had an awesome spinal. Didn't feel a thing and it wore off quickly afterwards.

I just hate the needle in the back thing.

The epi during my first vaginal was awesome!! I felt no pain, and enjoyed the birth!! The spinals were awesome, except for the throwing up 12 hours after. No biggie..got a baby out of it, kwim?! Felt no pain, and it wore off within an hour after the sections :)

I've only ever had a spinal. It was AMAZING! I felt nothing! I didn't even feel the tugging and pressure they said you would feel.

The only thing I didn't like about the spinal was that it made my skin ~esp on my face~ all red and itchy the first day

Had a spinal and loved it! He did have a hard time getting it in the right place and had to stick me 3 times, but it was great once he got it in.

Oh my gosh, I dont even know which one I had?! LOL Whats the difference? Maybe I had a spinal since I felt NOTHING, Not even pulling or tugging, I asked my midwife when they would start cutting, and she said five minutes ago LOL Hmmm I dont think I regained feeling till the next morning, But I was kept in bed anyway becouse of the mag sulfate. Not sure tho!

I've had both and I really don't remember which time I was up and walking earlier. But I did like the spinal better because I was completely numb right away. With the epi I was only numb on one side for a while which worried me alot. But by the time I was ready for my c-section I was completely numb, it just took a little longer with the epi.

My spinal was great, it was easy to get and I couldn't feel a thing. I hated the way it made my legs feel though, like freakin tree trunks or somwething!!

I had an epi with my vaginal birth and it wasn't to effective but I think it was because I was to far into the labour.
