This really cheeses me off! I posted in my ddc about c section classes being offered at my hospital (isn't that awesome?!!! How many of us did much better the second or third time around knowing what was going to happen?!!).
I guess that was taken as a "Have a c section today! It's GREAT!" post!
What is wrong with wanting mommies to be educated about the whats involved in a c section? Really?!! Am I missing something here?

I think it's so cool that your hospital is offering a course like that. Information is key! I don't understand why anyone would be upset.

I think it's great they are offering that. I wish I would've known more before mine. They spent maybe 3 minutes on c-sections during my birthing class. I felt pretty clueless when I actually had to have one.

That's so great that the hospital offers them. If ours did, I would go. I'm sorry that people were rude about your post. That's out of line.

That's stupid. You should know what to expect for any type of birth. I wish I had known more of what to expect during a c-section, but I really didn't think I'd have to have one, so I didn't seek anything out beyond what was covered in our childbirth classes, which was pretty basic.

I knew MORE about c-sections than natural birth after taking my first hospital birthing class.
Most women want to support natural birth and have the use of c-sections as a LAST resort. C-sections are becoming desensitized and I would be concerned that the c-section class wouldn't offer insight to how dangerous a c-section can be.
My hope is that the class would be a message of "natural birth is much better in most cases, but IF you need a NECESSARY c-section, here's what to expect...."

i wiwsh i would have known nore about c-sections. i planned on a natural childbirth but ended up with a emergency section. i just went with the flow and was relieved that my baby was going to be okay, no matter how she got here, but i think it would have been a little less traumatic if i knew a little of what to expect.
sounds like the ddc took your intentions the wrong way.

wow...I just have to say that I got to read the post you are talking about and there isn't one single thing in that post that seems the way you took it. In fact, most moms there responded talking about their own c-sections.
again, it's all interpretation. No one else seemed to have gotten into a debate or heated in any way.

I agree!! I wish they would've discussed c-sections more at my birthing class. They really didn't even mention it unfortunately.
