Sam's strep test was negative this morning, but pedi thinks it's either tonsilitis or could still turn into strep. he's starting Amoxicillin tomorrow (fever spiked back up, we were supposed to wait til Monday, but they said if it spiked again, to start it)
anyway.................I'm starting to feel a sore throat and Eric was earlier.
He has his vasectomy scheduled for Tuesday (with antibiotic already prescribed, he starts that Tuesday morning).
I have a c/s scheduled for Friday.
Would they delay either one if we're sick?
My parents get here tomorrow, but Sam's been SUPER clingy to me the past 3-4 days.
He's really croupy sounding and his throat is definitely red, clear runny nose has been nonstop. Fever this afternoon was 103.3.
Neither of us (me or Sam) run fevers, which is why I took him this morning.
But will they delay the c/s if I have something? Should I call my OB and ask?

I started getting a sinus infection and strep 1 1/2 -2 weeks before my schedule C, and my doc gave me one of those Z pak things. It was a 5 day pack I believe. I remember being told I needed to not be sick for the surgery! Good luck!

thanks, I'm calling hte OB in the morning for something. I cannot afford for the c/s to be delayed, we're already working on a time crunch against COBRA.

They do try to minimize the risk of infection as much as possible by you not being sick. So they will do what they can to insure 1. that you get better and 2. that they operate only when safe or absolutely necessary.
Feel better!

Good question! I plan to talk to my OB because my little Sam was diagnosed with strep yesterday. He's on the antibiotic now, but I'm wondering about me. I've got 17 days until my section. What if I get it too? I've got an OB appt. tomorrow so I'm going to ask about the same thing.

I do remember my OB telling me that you cannot be sick at all for the section because it could cause serious side effects with the spinal. I would definitely call and find out about it! Feel better!

Yuck! i hope you and your little one feels better soon!
I don't think they will do the surgery if you are sick. Did you call and talk to your ob?

In my case if I get it, I should be over it before my c/s so he wasn't too concerned. I don't think I'm getting it so let's hope not.
