I had an emergency c-section 10 months ago. Due to the hospital policy and medical conditions that I have, I can't do VBAC. I've already asked around within a two hour radius, and no one thinks I'm a good candidate for VBAC.
So, for those of you that have only had c-sections and will NOT be attemping a Vbac, how long did your doctor tell you to wait between c-section and pregnancy? Also, did your doctor give you a limit, on how many he will perform?
I'm one month pregnant with our second, and I have heard that most doctors will only do 3 c-sections.

My first two c-sections were 15 months apart, and my second and third will be 22 months apart. So basically all three of mine will be within a 3 year 3 week time. I am getting my tubes tied during this upcoming c-section because we are done having children, but have several friends who have had 4 and even 5. I think it depends on how your body recovers and you Dr. I had a "window" in my uterus after just one c-section, so I know that I am not one of those people who can have multiple cuts. Good Luck!

I've had 2 and mine were 2.5yrs apart. Some docs say to wait 1 yr and others say 2-3 yrs. The amount of pregnancies you have is based on how long you wait between pregnancies and how well your body recovers.

My dr. recommended at least a year but 2 being better. We are 2.5 out in about a week and my next c/s will be in 17 days. My dr. hasn't set a limit that I know of. I guess I should probably bring that up at one of my next appt. I want him to check things over in there. We want at least one more. I doubt we'll have more than 3. I'll probably get my tubes tied next time and we'll probably wait 2.5-3 years between again.

I think that it depends on your body's ability to bounce back from it :) I'm done with this one...I am just tired of being pregnant...but my old dr. had patients on their 5th and 6th. We had this discussion in this board before, and I think we came to the conclusion that if you got pregnant again...well, the baby can't be beamed out!!

I'd certainly listen if the doc said no more...but I haven't heard that yet :)
Congrats!!!!

my doctor recomended to wait 18 months at least between pregnancies to allow my body to recover well. but he never said a limit on how many sections.
btw - i am also not a a candidate for VBAC. also hospital policy and no one near does them (i live in a rural area).

I've always heard 1 year between pregnancies. Mine were 18 and 11 months (from delivery to conception). I've had 3 sections, and the doc said I could have at least one more. It depends on how thin your uterus is and how much scar tissue you have.

well honestly, you can whatever you want. whatever you decide to do with your family and your body, YOU know your body best.
I'm not allowed to go into a full discussion about a certain topic, but I will tell you this. I have done a LOT of footwork and no facility can stop you from having a baby however you choose. Unnecessary surgeries are just that, unnecessary. There are risks to elective surgeries.

When I was at my 6 week pp checkup my doctor said "I bet your pregnant in 3 months!" LOL So we never really talked about it. It's been almost 2 years and I'm not pregnant.
I've heard you should wait 18 months. I think it's important to let your body heal even if you feel completely healed. It takes awhile to heal.
