Help! I thought at first Reagan had a rash on her chest but now I have seen Nathan bite her two more times for a total of 3 bite marks on her body in the past 8 days. Anyone else have an advice until our next OT appointment. I lost his chewy tube so I ordered 3 more but it will be a few days until they get here.

He is biting out of frustration for sure. When Rae tries to take a one of the toys that he is lining up or that he is stimming with is when it seems to happen. I have also seen an increase in him biting objects out of frustration. I see him get frustrated to where he would usually throw everything and scream and tantrum but now he is biting HARD before he throws the stim toys.

He normally doesn't bit me. Just objects and his twin sister. Please help, I feel so sorry for Reagan She is also very speech delayed and says no words yet so she can't really tell me what is going on.

Thanks - I am lost until we get the dx and some more help.

it seems like he is doing this out of frustration. My son doesnt bite but he chews everything he can! I hope that there is something you can do to redirect him. For the time being I wouldnt let them play out of sight...

It is pretty much impossible to have my eyes on them all day. I have to go the bathroom, make and clean up lunch, change diapers, etc. I share my time with all 3 kids and they are 2 and under so it is really hard. I do not have any family around so I don't have any help during the day other than the 1 hour that the EI therapists come. My DH is travels for work, so sometimes it is just me and the 3 kids for a few nights in row.

Even so, this last bite I was right there within arms reach. I saw him start to get frustrated and before I could do anything he was biting her. I read to over exaggerate "OWE - That HURTS!, Boo hoo, cry cry". I'm not sure if it will have the same affect if the Cries come from me. I have been trying the time out chair but he just sits there and turns his head from me and doesn't feel bad at all. It's so different from when I put his twin sister in Time Out she cries and hides her head. I have no idea what I'm doing, I don't even know if I should be putting him in TO? I ordered 3 ASD books from Amazon last night with two day delivery so I can get them ASAP.

Nathan chews too. He chew corners off books and will chew it like gum. He also chews our pink princess folding chairs shrugs.gif . The biting is very new in the last week or so.

I know most ppl say not to but on a different ASD board I am on they suggested letting the other child bit back? I am not to crazy on that Idea and Boy you really have your hands full!! i wish I could be more help. I hear you on the no help thing, you are not alone. My son chews shirts, blankets and his coat zipper. He hasnt bit anyone though. My daughter who is 6 bit her teacher out of frustration she is older and high functioing so she understands that it hurts maybe he doesnt realize he is hurting her.

I haven't experience with biting but I do know about not being able to take your eyes off a child grin.gif I would suggest taking him with you when you go to the bathroom, make lunch, change diapers etc. and call his OT for advice. Even though you don't have an appointment, they should be able to spare a few minutes on the phone with you. I agree he may not realize he is hurting her, but don't know what you should do about that. (((hugs)))
