Hi.

My name is Rochelle and my second child was born on February 15th. This c-section was not planned, but expected, though not as early as it did have to happen. My incision area isn't so much the problem as the huge amount of swelling I'm having from my thighs down to the top of my feet. My dh and I went to the ER in the early hours of the morning, because it had become so uncomfortable and they checked for blood clots, but said I was clear. I've actually gained quite a bit of weight after having our daughter, due to the extra fluid I am carrying. This was my first c-section too, by the way.

I'm not doing any driving, was told I had to wait 2 weeks. I am up on my feet quite a bit, since our daughter is in the NICU unit. She was born at 31wks 6days. I do prop my feet up when I can and I've also been drinking as much water as I can. I know this is the short version, but what I'm hoping to find out is how long this type of swelling will be around and an issue. It feels like I have constrictor bands around my knees and ankles and that someone is trying to snap my legs in two with the pressure.

I hope this didn't come out all jumbled. My brain isn't working properly yet. Thanks for listening. :)

First of all congratulations on your baby girl! I'm sorry she didn't bake as long as you had hoped sad.gif Hopefully she'll be home soon. How is she doing?

As for the swelling; I had it bad with my first. It lasted about 1 week at full swollen status lol and then for another week slowly went down. Putting your feet up and resting is the most important thing and will help most. So maybe you could ask for an extra chair while you're sitting in the NICU so you can elevate your feet?

How are you feeling otherwise? We're here if you need us.
