I'm 5 weeks postpartum from my 3rd section. I'm trying to continue my weightloss journey, so I've been doing a bit of exercising...walking video mostly. I did 20 min on the exercise bike the last 2 days, and now my ab region is fairly sore. Do you think it's from just getting back into exercising (normal soreness), or could it be my abs telling me they're not ready/healed yet? I'd like to continue exercising and pump it up next week after my 6 week appt, but I don't want to do any damage.

Not being the exercising type, I'm not sure I'm much help. I would discuss exercise with your dr. before engaging in anything more than normal daily activities.

Personally I think you are overdoing it already. It's not just about having the physical strength to do it. It's about how much your heart is pumping also. So even if you are just walking you may be raising your heart rate too much. I wouldn't recommend the bike just yet. That's too much motion in your midsection to not create soreness or a slow down in healing.

ITA! I wouldn't engage in any type of excercise until after your dr.tells you it's ok. Your body still has to heal itself...
It's awesome that you feel well enough to do it though! You go, girl!

It could be sore from getting back into exercising. Besides the surgery your muscles have been stretched out for 9 months. Did your doc give you any advice? I would just pay attention to how you feel and don't overdo it. I was walking 3/4 of a mile after about two weeks, and that was no problem for me. Kuddos to you for even having the initiative to try with a 5 week old!

Honestly? I think you are overdoing it a bit with the bike. I didn't do anything but walking ~sloow walking~ for the first 6 weeks. After my 6 week pp checkup I was given to go ahead to resume normal activities.
I would talk to your doctor about anything other than normal walking before you start back up.

He told me I could do some walking a few weeks ago, so maybe I'll just do that and not the bike until after my appt next week. Thanks!
