Spermicide is moderately effective. 29/100 women will conceive within the first year of typical use. With perfect use, that stat is about 15/100 who will conceive. Some couples report irritation from it, that's about the only side effect (unless you consider the mess factor). Most forms have to be inserted 10 minutes prior to intercourse, and are only effective for one hour. Re-application is necessary for consecutive acts of intercourse.

I tried it only one time and ended up with a really nasty yeast infection. Maybe I was allergic to it, I don't know. Condoms usually cause itching and redness, so I probably am.

We used it once. Unfortunately, it caused a burning sensation in both of us.
