Unfortunately, Depo is one of the most difficult hormonal contraceptives to recover from. Many women experience prolonged irregularity in a variety of forms - irregular bleeding, no bleeding, prolonged spotting, etc. Average recovery time seems to be around 18 months, but the studies done on resuming fertility after Depo indicate it can be up to 3 years.

Everybody recovers their fertility differently. The number of shots doesn't seem to affect recovery time.

It effected me badly. I had no bleeding for quite a while. Then I got on the patch and my periods started to get a little more regular.

Shawna pretty much summed it up. It can take your body a while to adjust when your on Depo. Unfortunately, you just have to wait and see. Breastfeeding could play a part in why you haven't had an AF. Did you have one before you started the shot or did you have your first one at your 6 week PP check up??

I think it varies from person to person as well as when you become fertile again. I switched from depo to pills in November '05 and had a couple of very irregular periods then got pregnant in early January '06.

I just got a period last month for the first time since having Sam and he is about to be a year old. I used Depo because of BFing too, so I am not sure which is to blame, probably a combination. I know of women who BF w/out BC and still don't have AF for many many months.
In the past, when I have had the shot (while NOT BFing) it has, at times, taken me up to 6 months to get my AF back.
