Has anyone used this as primary BC? If so, how affective were they? Right now we're using a diaphragm or the pull out method, and I'm just trying to find something else to try that's non-hormonal. I can't seem to find any information on effectiveness for these.

Withdrawal has an average failure rate of 27% and vaginal contraceptive films a 29% failure rate.
Common side effects to the VCF include vaginal irritation, allergic reaction, stinging or burning of the genitals. No way to know until you try.
The most effective form of non-hormonal birth regulation is Natural Family Planning, provided the couple has had proper instruction in one of the modern NFP methods. Effectiveness is between 96-99%, depending on the method used.

Thanks for the info, and we're using this along with NFP, or FAM. And I found that the effectiveness is about the same as the diaphragm.

I don't normally post on this board but I was lurking and thought I'd drop u a line

I actually use these primarily and haven't gotten preggo and I've been using them for 7 months... my friend's used them for 4 years and never gotten pregnant. I love them! Hope that helped

Lisa- thanks so much! I was hoping to hear that, because I'd like to use them primarily. And after I found that the effectiveness is the same as the diaphragm I feel more comfortable using this as our primary bc.
