Hey all, i need some help! My baby is about 2 months and its time for some birth control but i'm breastfeeding so i'm limited to mini pill, depo or mirena (iud). And i started birth control when i was 16. I started with the pill, but could never remember to take it so i switched to depo and bled non stop for a year, and i couldnt stand that anymore so i went back to the pill .... and baby #1 was born May 2005. Then i tried the depo again but after 6 months or so i didnt want the bleeding again so i went back to the pill and baby #2 was born December 2006! Obviously the pill sucks for me (and i couldnt and still cant always remember to take my prenatal pill!)

So i want to try the Mirena but i'm having problems with insurance! I've checked out their website and it says to call your insurance company to find out if its covered and thats what my doc office says too but my problem is that i'm on public aide - medical card - and its impossible to get ahold of somebody! And i dont know what to do or how else to find answers! I've left messages and nobody has called me back!

Does anybody else have that for insurance. I know you can pay for it monthly for a year, but thats not affordable for the time being ... but if i do the pill i'm afraid we'll get pregnant and i'm getting married in june so i really dont want the bleeding problems again!! And theres always condoms, but thats not always successful! lol. Any help would be much appreciated to come my way!

Congrats on your baby! My little guy is 2 months old.

There's Natural Family Planning, with proper instruction it's 96-99% effective and has no health risks. Most teachers charge about $50, but then you never have to pay anything again and they won't turn you away if you can't afford it - they will teach you anyway.

If you are on public assistance in my state don't know about yours you have to pick an HMO and you have them to go through for things like this. Who is you insurance carrier??

I'm not sure about the medical card. I have a IUD and our insurance covered 80% of it.

I would call your dr's office and see if they can get ahold of your insurance company.
