From what I understand the article is talking about how the new birth control pills may not be as effective as the company says they are.

That's what made me stop taking them, was when I found out that they don't block ovulation reliably, and that they have "backup" features that prevent implantation.

I was actually told by my doctor that they just block ovulation and there's no other function... that if somehow an egg did escape that the pill wouldn't do anything else to harm it. I guess his information was a tad out of date.
