hardstairs.
Okay, I looked at this forum for the first time yesterday & it sparked a thought.

Well, im 16 years old & am on the pill.
Im also a vegetrian.
(You have no idea where this is going, do you? haha)
I have been on the pill & a vego for about the same amount of time.
Im vegetrian and dont eat anything to make up for it.
So i live on basically, bread, pasta & potatos.
And some raw vegies or fruit every now and then.

Well I was & still am, very light headed alot & I mean alot. I cant walk upstairs with being tired.
Sick feeling.
Tiredness.

So, i starting taking iron & multi vitamin tablets.
No change.

And I know you guys aren't doctors but I was wondering if you thought this was possible at all.
That maybe, these things are caused by the pill?

I believe it's strictly diet related. It sounds like anemia and hypoglycemia. I would try to eat a more balanced diet, including peanut butter, beans, or tofu for protein.

I too think it would be diet related, but I used to get light headed with birth control so you never know

I would call your doctor. If it is the pill you should probably find something new.

Hmm.
Im not anemic.
I know that.
I have been tested.

I also get alot of headaches and breathlessness.

headaches were a big problem for me when I was on birth control

have you ever thought Natural Family Planning it is a good choice if your body does not handle hormone stuff that well
hardstairs.
Yeah, im starting to think about it now & I really think its a good idea.
I also dont really like the pill and have been on it for near two years and would really like to give my body a break from it.
I guess I would need more information though to prove to my partner that it is an effection source of contraception.

If you work together at it, it is a great idea

they have info in a sticky on the NFP board

It might be that your not consuming enough calories in one day. If you think it's the pill, then call your dr. It could be from either one.

I'm thinking diet too. Try eating some more fats/proteins like avocados, nut butters, olive oil, ect

But it could also be the pill since some people do get headaches from it. Have you thought about going off it and maybe use condoms?

It sounds like you're living on a diet of wheat and starch! That is incredibly hard on your body. Wheat will cause problems even when eaten sparingly. I usually avoid it, but I can always tell the difference in my energy levels when I eat spaghetti or a couple of dinner rolls. No wonder you're tired, lightheaded, etc. You definitely need some healthy proteins: soy, nuts, legumes (split pea soup is really good for you). You also need more fruits and veggies to boost your blood sugar. Brown rice with some sauteed veggies is really yummy. Do you eat animal bi-products (eggs, dairy?) If so, eggs are a super food, they are really really good for you. Egg noodles are yummy too. Def cut back on the wheat tho (regular flour/bread is wheat as is most pasta).

I agree that it could be your diet. When I went on a vegetarian, low fat diet to help deal with lupus, my doctor was informed of my diet, and made sure I was getting all the nutrients I needed. It's difficult to get all the nutrients you need on a strictly vegetarian diet, and I know my health suffered on it. It was just very hard getting all you need. And I used to be a big time fan of vegetarian eating. Now I am more in favor of balanced eating. I still eat very little meat, but try to incorporate it into my diet.

I'd talk to your doctor, because it easily could be the pill as well. But at 16, you have to be careful about your diet, and I'd make sure you really are getting all you need.
