Thanks

I have the copper IUD and I love it!!! I've had it almost a year now and I've not had any problems with it. On a scale of 1 to 10, it was about a 2 or 3 on the pain scale. I had some minor cramping when it was inserted but that was it. If you can handle labor, then you can definitely handle this!!! I can't feel mine at all.

I would recommend it!! If you want more info, I have them both listed in the helpful websites sticky.

Thanks for the info, I will talk to my OBGYN about this.

Why would 26- 46 day cycles be an impediment to using NFP? Mine are usually between 45 - 90 days long and the particular method we use doesn't require cycles to be regular and it has an effectiveness rate of 99.64%.

I have looked into the diffrent NFP methods, and they are just not right for me, I don't want to get into my personal history, so I will just keep it at that.

OH certainly! That's fair! A personal preference is different than saying you don't qualify because of your cycles though. That a isconception that a lot of people have and I like to address for the benefit of anyone reading this. That's all! Carry on....LOL

Not right for me because of my cycles, and it's great your trying to educate people on your choice of BC.

I'm a nurse and NFP instruction/fertility awareness is what I do IRL actually. I have never met a woman who couldn't use it because of her cycles, because even very long or very complicated cycles can be accomodated with proper training. Preferring not to use NFP is totally a valid reason not to - but it is a misconception that modern methods of NFP will not work with certain cycles. It's like saying, "my legs are too short for running." One may prefer not to run for whatever reason and that's cool, but it is simply not true that one's legs can be too short for it. KWIM?

I'm in the same situation I'm still on the Mini-Pill after a year I don't have any problems with it though. I just wish that I could have something more effective. Can't say that its not effective because I've been taking it a little over a year and haven't gotten pregnant. My Dr. told me the only choice would be the Mini-Pill Depo (which she didn't recommened) and an IUD. What is Yasmin and is it safe for high bp?

Ladies I have a question for yall, after having my ds I developed High Blood Pressure, I was on the mini-pills because I tried out Bfing for a bit, and I HATE mini-pills, and the put me on BP meds that I couldn't take and BF, so I stopped Bfing. I am now on Yasmin and doing fine, but my Doctor said until my BP was regulated I need a BC with out the Pergestron (I think that's the hormone), so my OBGYN suggested the IUD, Depo (Which is a no, ni, I was on it and had major migrains, and weight gain), I think she said the patch (I was on that before also) and Condoms (Which I am allergic to), NPF which is a big nope, I barely remember to take my BC pills, and I did this to plan my son's conception, but my cycles are horrible when I did NPF they would be 26 to 45 days, so nope to that. I guess what I am asking is, if I choose the IUD, does it hurt when it is implanted? can you feel it? and if any one has had problems with their BP, what has your Dr suggested to you?

Thanks in advance.

Your situation is so similar to mine. I am taking blood pressure meds and I have an IUD and it did hurt when I first got it but after a few days of light cramp it got better. I haven't had any problems except a few days of spotting whichI don't have anymore.

Yasmin is a type of Birth control pills, (combo-pill). My OBGYN took me off of it, because it is a combo pill. Until my BP is under control, I can't use the combo pills.
