Has anyone had any bad experiences with this form of bc? My 2 big concerns are weight gain and moodiness. I had a bad experience with both side effects. I only had 2 injections of depo and ended up gaining 33lbs and I was crying at the drop of a hat. Whenever I tried bc pills they always made me irritable all the time. Hearing your good or bad experiences with the copper iud would be great.

I've had my copper IUD for almost a year now and I LOVE it!! I have zero side effects from it. I don't have to do anything but check for the strings once a month. The difference between it and hormonal bc is that because there aren't any hormones, your AF is like it is normally. I'm getting used to having heavy AF's again because I was on hormonal bc before this one. Other than that, I love having it and I would recommend it.

If you would like more info, I have info on it in the helpful websites sticky.

The copper IUD will not affect weight gain or your moods. Since there aren't any hormones, your body behaves the way that it normally would without hormones.

Personally, I found that I am horribly moody and PMSy without hormonal birth control to regulate my cycle and my moods. Since I was bfing when I got it, I didn't have af until I'd had the IUD for 3 months and I was fine-totally loved it. But when my menstrual cycle returned, I became a ######y pms queen. Yick. Now I'm on the pill AND have the IUD. biggrin.gif
