Hi guys, I have read different things everywhere for the affect that nitrofurantoin (macrobid) has on birth control pills. Some places says it has an affect, others say no. Right now I am on Loestrin 24 Fe and have been taking nitrofurantoin for a uti for 5 days now. DF and I don't use a back-up so I was checking to see if anyone has any experience with this antibiotic or can give me any answers at all. Anything would be greatly appreciated. I posted elsewhere but nobody seemed interested in helping me. Thanks in advance!

Ok, I looked it up in my Pharmacology book and it's not listed as an interaction for birth control pills. I also looked online and I saw it go both ways. The ones listed in my book that did interact with bc were penicillin and tetracyclines.
