Hi ladies

Today I was put back on my epilepsy medication >insert huge sad face here< and part of the problem with that, is that I can no longer be on the combined pill and have to be on the mini pill. WHEN and HOW do I change to the mini pill? My neurologist said that the combined pill will be pretty much ineffective as soon as I take my first tegratol (epilepsy medication) - and I need to start taking it tonight...

.... I don't like the idea of using condoms until my period starts - I've never had any luck with condoms so would prefer to continue with some form of oral contraception, straight away.

Am I okay to just start taking the mini-pill tonight? Should I continue with my combined pill until AF arrives (about a week) & use condoms?

oh - i'm picking that the progesterone only pill is referred to as the mini pill over there as well? If not, then that is what i'm talking about

I found this link for you. It says to start taking it the day you start your period. It doesn't mention an alternate starting procedure like there is for the regular pill. So I would do it the way they say and just stick it out with the condoms for however long that may be.

I'm sorry that you have to go back on your epilepsy meds.

thanks for the link etc. the neurologist I saw had no idea about when to start taking the Pill, and i didn't want to pay to see my doctor just for her to talk to me for 30 seconds!!!!!!!


... and yea I'm gutted I have to go back on the epilepsy meds..... never really thought about it when i was on them before, but now that i'm back on them, and TTC is going to be happening sometime in the near future, I have to think about the effect the meds can have on any future babies... *sigh*
