Ok So I was using the nuvaring until I went to refill my script and found out that I have to pay $40 for it.....I can't afford that. I'm a single mom on a VERY tight budget. What else can you guys suggest?? I don't believe in IUD's, Normal pills cause me to have break thru bleeding, and Depo I was on and because of the migranes it gave me I lost a job.....My choices are limited DRASTICLY!! I just don't know what I'm going to do. I was lookin at the FAM and NFP but things I was reading says that those are not good for single women.....not sure why...but that's what it says. So other then condoms what can I use??

If you're in a committed monogomous relationship, then NFP should be fine. Anything other than condoms is not a great idea for single women since they don't protect against STDs, kwim?

I think "they" reccomend against FAM and NFP for single women because of the mutual co-operation and effort they both require between a woman and a man; and because neither will protect against STD's.

Maybe the pill you were on wasn't the right kind. you need to be on it for around 3 months to know if its going to work for you or not.. If its not, then you need a different one. You doctor should give you a 3 month sample supply then write out a prescibtion.. They do have generic pills available. for around $12 a month, well thats around what it is with my insurance.
You could go to the Health department, They will give you an exam, and then put you on BC for free! yes FREE!! Its worth a shot.

I was going to suggest Planned Parenthood. They base how much you have to pay on your income. I went there for a while and got free b/c. Condoms are another good option for you also.

There's always the diaphragm or the sponge. The diaphragm doesn't protect aganist STD's but it is very cheap. It costs $30-$50 and is replaced every two years or so. It needs to be fitted by a doctor but you can get that done at a sliding scale clinic such as Planned Parenthood. Then the sponge is probably around the same price as condoms. Plus there is always contraceptive foam and/or film you can use.

Most Planned Parenthoods will provide you bc for a donation or on a sliding scale fee.

I was looking into planned parenthood because I'm going back to college this fall and won't be able to work and don't have insurance so I was wondering what they would want for it and what they would do....since I've never been on bc before.

I would just call and make an appointment. I think you will have to fill out some paper work and they will tell you how much it's going to be. I know that it's really cheap though!!

I agree with the other ladies and try Planned Parenthood. I know at the one near me, they give you free condoms. BUT! You have to pay for certain types of birth control. I know that 3 months worth of pills are like $8! I'm not sure where you are exactly though, but I'm sure it wouldn't be much more than that. Other than that, I don't really have any suggestions for you other than condoms. Since they can really only protect you from STDs as well as pregnancy (to a precentage!)
Good luck!!!!
