I'm trying to find BC that won't give me migraines or make me really witch.gif all the time (what Pills, Depo, and the patch do to me). Doc suggested Mirena, but after reading the side effects, it looks like I'd still be moody. So Paraguard looks like a good option for me. My question is, I have pretty heavy AFs that last 6-8 days and Paraguard says a side effect is heavier flows. Does that mean that my AF will be even worse if I get Para.? I love everything about this option except for the heavier flows. Any input would be appreciated!

Yes, the Paraguard can make your AF's heavier than they are normally because of the way it irritates the lining of the uterus (it causes a certain degree of inflammation to the endometrium to prevent implantation, but this inflammation is what can cause the heavier bleeding).

Have you looked into modern methods of Natural Family Planning? With proper training, they are highly effective and have no side effects. The one we use was found to be 99.6% reliable during the clinical trials.
