Yep, you heard me! lol ... Nothing to do with the baby though, he's completely fine. I had a bachache all night that I just figured was from sleeping on my back so I just kind of ignored it. When I got up this mronign to use the bathroom their was blood in my urine. I called a friend who's a nurse and she told me I should go to urgent care or the ER. I was really nervous and hesitatnt ... I hate going to the ER and I wasn't in any kind of pain and after hearing some of the stories from you girls I was scared they would be mean to me but I was very lucky... everyone was extremely nice.
After checking me in, they wheeled me up to Labor and Delivery (I felt so silly in a wheelchair, I could walk just fine! lol) Once up there, the nurse came in and hooked me up to a fetal monitor and blood pressure machine. The baby's heart was loud and clear and he must have known something was going on b/c he was kicking and moving the WHOLE time I was there. I've never felt him move that much before! Then she said she had to put in a catheter and I almost freaked out. I've never been in a hospital for anythign before so I was scared. It didn't hurt, just felt weird. She then called another nurse in and said "You need to see this." She held up the bag of urine and it was blood red!!! They both looked at me and said "Are you sure you aren't in any pain?"
THey sent a sample to be tested and in the meantime she came back and said there was an u/s tech in the building so they were going to send me to get an u/s of my kidneys and then put me on an IV and that I may have to stay the night. Of course, at the mention of an IV I started crying! lol ... I've never had one before and I was terrified of it! Luckily I had a really great nurse and she was very sweet to me. She said this was God's way of preparing me for having to be in the hospital when I actually deliver.
The u/s tech was also extremely nice. She took tons of u/s pics of my sides and back and then she showed me the baby. She even asked if I knew what it was b/c she was going to tell me. The baby looks so much bigger then a few weeks ago and he was sucking his thumb, it was so cute!
Back in my room, she put my IV in, which wasn't terrible, but it still hurt and was uncomfortable. My mom and my sister came to see me and Wade was with me the whole time. He was preparing for havig to sleep on the floor if I had to stay overnight.
Right after my mom and sister left, the nurse came back and said they were sending me home. After all that, they really aren't sure what was/ is wrong with me. They prescribed some antibiotics for infection and told me to call my dr's office on Tuesday to make an appt. She said that there are 2 tubes and when pregnant, one of them is supposed to be swollen, but both of mine are. That's all they can see. She said there is probably some obstruction, but they don't see any kidney stones or anything like that. She said I'll probably have to see a urologist to further check out the problem.
So now I'm back home and feeling fine, just tired from the long day. I'm not quite as nervous about being in the hospital for labor now, especially after being in the unit and seeing how nice everyone was. Wade wants to request the same nurse for delivery! lol
Sorry that was so long, just wanted to let you all know!

I would have been freaking out!!!! I'm so glad they think everything is okay! Do you have a follow up appointment!? I'm glad everyone was nice... they normally are... but now and then you get a couple of bad apples... I absolutely love the nurses on L&D... the two times I've gone in there, they have been wonderful. Good luck, and keep us posted!

Thanks guys! I'm feeling fine today and my friend who works in ICU at that hospital said that L&D is one of the best wards in the hospital so that's very reassuring since that's where I'm having hte baby. I do have an appt with my doctor on Thursday. The dr on call in the ER was actually my OB/GYN's husband - they are in practice together. The only thing I'm nervous about is the antibiotics they gave me. It specifically says not to take them during pregnancy unless clearly needed. I know I CLEARLY needed them, lol, but it still makes me nervous. It also says to definately NOT take them for any reason between 28-38 weeks. Its something called nitrofurantoin mono ... anyone ever taken this before?

I just got off Nitrofurantn 100mg for a UTI. The ER doctor said they are perfectly safe when pregnant and I call my OB's office and the nurse said they are commonly used... I was worried about that too because the bottle package does say not to take if pregnant... I took them because they told me they were fine??? Now you have me freaking out too! It must be ok if your doc and mine said to take it????

ohhh... I just pulled out my old package and it said do not take between 38 and 42 weeks- not 28 weeks.... that doesn't scare me so bad. When I took it, I noticed decreased fetal movement for a couple of days. I thought maybe it was because of the meds, since it said it could cause drowsiness I figured that it might affect the baby as well... if that is true, that may be why you shouldn't use it so close to delivery... you don't want to decrease activity of baby during/around labor time. This is all speculation of course.

Annie thanks so much for that link, it does clear things up! It freaked me out b/c when I went to pick up the prescription, the pharmacists said "DOes your doctor know you are pregnant??" I told her I had just come from L&D and it was the dr there that prescribed it so she said ok and gave me the scipt. I also knew that b/c the doc that prescribed it works with my dr in the same practice and is actually her husband, that I trusted him
The only thing about the whole experience, and I didn't even think about this until last night, is that I never saw a doctor one time the whole time I was there. The nurse did everything, including explaining what they thought was wrong with me. My mom asked me when she came to see me if I had seen a dr, but I figured he'd come in eventually, but he never did.
Is this normal??

When I was in Labor and Delivery as an emergnacy patient for my blood clot, I saw like three doctors right after each other,,,, but I think they just came in to see which pregnant lady had the blood clot. LOL.... after that I hardly saw them at all and like you said, the nurses did everything.
