Full Version: Anyone have problems after IUD removal?
Justmommies Forums > Women & Family Health > Birth Control
~Jess~
I had a paragard IUD (non-hormonal). I loved it and had no problems, but we've decided to have another baby and plan to start ttc in August. I had the IUD removed on June 1st. Spotted for a day after it was removed, but all was fine. Last week (3 weeks after removal), I started feeling an uncomfortable pressure in my lower abdomen. I was also feeling just plain yucky, so figured I must have a virus that was affecting me. I even went so far as to take a home UTI test just in case (it was negative.). Shrugged it off as a virus. After a few days, the pressure and discomfort were gone, so I forgot about it. BUT, yesterday, dh and I tried to dtd and caused so much pain in my lower abdomen that we had to stop. Even hours later, my abdomen still hurt. I have an appt with the ob/gyn tomorrow, but I'm freaking out a bit. Could this have to do with the IUD removal? Could my fertility be impacted? I'm scared to death, I want another baby so badly, and I'm so close, and I'm afraid that will be taken away from me.

Any ideas as to what it can be? I literally feel like I'm going to vomit, I'm so stressed out over this!

With the pain you describe, since it's been so long since your IUD removal...it sounds like you could have an infection (yes, it may have been caused by the removal, which would have had the potential to introduce foreign bacteria into your uterus). It's a good thing you're going in tomorrow, this needs attention ASAP!

How did your appointment go??

Appointment went phenomenally! She said that everything checked out perfectly: ovaries, cervix, uterus, cm, urine tests, etc. She ran a couple of cultures "just in case" that came back totally normal. She prescribed foreplay and said that everything looks perfect for ttc in August! cheer.gif I haven't had any pain since, so I guess it was just a fluke. biggrin.gif

Thats great that you didn't have an infection and that your not having any more pain.
