Here's the consumer report link for info on car seats. I thought it might be helpful.

I'm considering either the Safety 1st one (for $80), which has excellent crash scores, or the Evanflo Titan 5 (for $70), which is the convertible seat (infant to toddler), and also has great ratings.

Any opinions? I know absolutely nothing about this... I really don't even understand how car seats work, to be honest. Like, do I need to buy a separate base? Do these seats double as carriers, or will I have to move the baby from the car seat into a separate carrier? Will any of these work with a snap-in stroller thing?

So many questions... blink.gif I'm also not sure where to buy these... Babies R Us (online) doesn't have either of the ones that I'm interested in, from what I could find.

OK, I just answered some of my own questions! Here's a link that explains what the differences are between the different types (infant car seat vs convertible seat vs booster seat, etc). It says that the convertible seat can't be used with a stroller... so I don't think I want one of those...

I always use a infant carrier first, as if you go somewhere and only need to get out of the car for a few minutes you just take the baby in the seat with you, and they can be safely placed down if you need2 hands for a second, and you dont need to wake them, Or if you have the wheel attachments you just pop the seat on the wheels and off you go,
once the babt has oput growen this seat, I usually have a convertable one so if need be baby can still be rear facing in the car, untill a little stronger

My stroller is a travel system, so it comes with the infant car seat that is a carrier. I really like that I can click it into the stroller or car and just be ready to go. We are also registering for a convertible car seat, though, 'cause we want a car seat in each car in the beginning. By buying a convertible seat as our second seat, it means that we'll have a seat ready when baby outgrows the infant carrier seat.
