Hey guys! I finished my last pack of birth control pills the middle of December. I have yet to have a period. However, when I've stopped in the past, it's taken about 7 weeks to get a period. I started spotting 2 weeks ago on and off and stopped last Saturday. I started spotting again Tuesday and stopped that night. I started spotting again today. It's been VERY light - only on TP. It's usually brown or pink. I took a few pregnancy tests and they were negative. My question is is this normal and should I see a doctor? I'm starting to get a little concerned! Thanks for your help!

It's normal, no need to see your doctor yet. Even if you didn't experience it when stopping before, it's still normal. Your body is going through a major hormonal transition to try and figure out what to do without the influence of the synthetic hormones on board, so hang in there! The spotting can be a sign that your body is trying to ovulate, or that it tried and failed to go through with it. Any hormonal fluctuation like that can cause spotting. The time it takes for a woman's body to recover from the pill completely is between 3-18 months on average. Clinical trials show cases where it has taken much longer than that, but that's not as common.
