Wow--he sure is growing quickly! Good for you mama!
As far as the side-lying bfing, I couldn't do it with my DD until she was much older as her latch was so weak that I just couldn't keep her on and get in a comfy position. With Declan its been easier and I've managed it a few times. I prop him up a bit with the bed covers, then put a pillow under my butt/behind me to help me get to an angle where he can latch. Its just tough when they are this young, but it does get better over time. If you can't get the hang of it yet, try it again every few weeks until he gets to a point where he can help you out a little more.
