Pretty much what the other ladies said. They'll put 2 monitors on you, one for the baby's heart rate and another to monitor if you contract. Some of the newer ones pick up movement, others you have to click to say when you feel movement.

What they're looking for is acceleration and deceleration in the heart rate. They want it to accelerate during movements, but drop again quickly. And then to decelerate at times of rest but come up quickly as well. If baby is sleepy or tired, they'll try to get baby to move. So I always tried to eat something sugary beforehand, and if you can get a cold drink just before/during as well, that helps.

I had NSTs twice weekly at the end with Patrick.
